I don’t mind banquettes, but I don’t like this one in this space. It looks odd and out of place, and it doesn’t work with the rest of the kitchen design IMO. They are better suited to corners against a wall. I would never put one in the middle of the kitchen.

I think a lot of people who decide to go with a banquette are people with children.  Much easier for them to get in and out.  The adults can use the chairs. Or they're designed by the one below.

I am seeing these more and more but I'm not a fan of the look....don't care for banquettes period. They're hard to maneuver with various people trying to get in /out of them and they appear extremely uncomfortable to me.

It looks out of place to me. All of that dark wood just doesn't seem to fit in with the white cabinets and gray slate or marble (whatever it is). A bit strange!

I kind of like this concept, I think the color throws me off, maybe if the colors were all the same in the island and the table or at least close I'd like it better.

I don't care for either.  The kitchen is stark and cold looking, neither the islland nor the banquette change that.

I don't like islands.  I want ample counter space and ample floor space.

Yep, I'd trade an island for a banquette and I'd trade a banquette for something as simple and as flexible... as the right table and chairs!
