To those of us that like VPH and BL ....

Recently there has been some very negative posts regarding Valerie Parr Hill, Bethlehem Lights and towards posters who like to share their 'finds'.

Tonight I asked a friend of mine, who has a masters in psychology, why a person would come into a forum designated to those of us that love to decorate and criticize not only the items we like to buy, but even attack some people personally.

I was informed there are several reasons a person would do such a thing...

1. Depression. People who are unhappy in their lives will tend to want to bring other people down. Often it is done subconsciously, but for that moment , if they are able to bring someone down, it makes them feel equal. Something that in their miserable lives they don't normally feel.

2. Jealously. If someone can afford to buy something the other person can't because they are financially strapped, they will try to convince the person that they overpaid and that the item is junk, hoping that the person will stop making purchases and therefore relieving themselves from having to hear about the items and removing the negative jealousy feelings that result from that exposure.

and 3... believe it or not, s*xual frustration! (I know, I was like, "What!!" when I heard that LOL) Apparently, if the person is not 'getting some' over a long period of time, it can create internal hostility which causes a person to lash out at any opportunity they can find. It is a natural need that humans have and if it is not fulfilled, it can make them realize that they may not be all that attractive to the opposite s*ex and that leads to depression... so I guess that kinda takes us back to #1 above.

So to the wonderful ladies here in the home forum, when someone comes in here with all their negative rants, don't get upset or angry- instead, feel sorry for them and just know they have their reasons for lashing out the way they do and please don't take it personally or let it bring you down.

Try to ignore them. Try to understand the dark place they come from. And if it applies to you, pray for them.

I have a feeling this may get 'poofed' because of some of the content, but I was just being honest and sharing what a professional told me.

Happy decorating ladies! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}
