Yes, winter is upon us, but this is the time to redo in some instances.
We talk about our taste in clothes, and small decorating, yet home decore is our biggest palette to create!
It's time to redo the couch and a few chairs and I'm going deep red! I have primitive antiques and use a little red in every room. My dinning room curtains are burgandy and I have some antique paintings in there with a massive five plank pine table and ladderbacks. Ralph Lauren prints work well for me. The kitchen is deep grey blue with a little parchment and touches of red. We did an antique table for an island. Id like to redo the valances in there.
What about you?

Your decor sounds very appealing, and red is always a good color. Not sure though, how will it work with burgundy in your DR? Or perhaps you hadn't planned to include it in there... Yes, many Lauren fabrics are classic and I enjoy some of them too, but always have a problem selecting fabrics because my tastes are so eclectic. I love toiles too and still find floral chintz so pretty too, though they're largely considered passe. I'm not in decorating mode as far as any major changes, though just before Christmas I did move around quite a few larger pieces from room to room, changed out my throw pillows, bed linen colors, shower curtains, area rugs, throws and 'knick-knacks', and will likely change around the small things again in a few months.

Just my opinion, classic trumps passé every time! I wish I could redo every room in my house..............

I don't have a couch, but rather, a chaise lounge from Bassett in a (to me) gorgeous aubergine, with a low profile black wooden base - I am amazed how color-versatile this piece is. I've started lightening up my "seasonal" reds and greens and started thinking about a more spring-like palette, which always includes orange and green, some cobalt glassware, aquamarine chairs - love the stripes and florals, always. The colors of the garden are my inspiration.

Like you,I have something red or burgundy in every room. My greatroom furniture is burgundy, and those colors flow into adjoining dining area and kitchen along with greens, golds and beiges with soft beige walls, jeweltone area rugs, and bright white plantation shutters throughout the house. Love the colors! I don't think I will ever tire of some shade of red throughout my home.

Our house has mainly a white beach house theme. The great room has a very pale beige leather couch with bright teal blue as the accent color throughout the room...and a few touches of peach.

I have beige walls & beige carpet just a shade darker than the walls, throughout my house. The LR has burgundy furniture with some touches of seafoam greens and shell pinks. I have plantation shutters on all my windows - white. In the master bedroom I have decorated with dark brown, beige and turquoise. DH's den - navy & beige - guest room - green and beige and kitchen is neutral but with some accents of seafoam and burgundy. Until I did it I never realized that burgundy and seafoam look so nice together.

Absolutely agree and were I in the market to buy new or reupholster, I'd not let anyone's definition of 'passe' dictate my choice! In fact, I'm considering valences at most widows and in at least several rooms they will be toile.

Everything I use is on the "blue" side of the color wheel. Think of paint chips. Light tints at the top. Deep shades at the bottom. In the middle true blue based red. That's the red for the couch. The tab tie drapes are the deep shades which go into burgandy.
I taught I Design and love color.

My last sofa & loveseat were RED leather and I LOVED them. The seat portion in them both however was loosing or lost all support so we purchased a taupe colored (matching) reclining sofa & oversized chair. These are against neutral walls that I call café au lait in the LR, DR and now in the hallway inside front dr, stairwell up and small hall upstairs. It's a PPG color that I found some years ago called "Ponytail". Love this color, it's a great neutral.
So I add my colors by changing out my area rug LR and floor in the hallway. DR area rug is enormous b/c my rooms are just that big and I don't change out that one. Anyway I use tons of color sometimes bright, other times subdued depending on the seasons b/c I change out my décor to seasons. Crazy as that may seem, I love it and have fun doing it. I throw in a couple of toss pillows for the sofa depending on my color scheme.
I'm envious Ms EC that you've chosen red (dark red) to decorate with - I hope you love it as much as I did.
