Re: Throw rug keeps walking....

I have the things that are suppose to keep the rugs from walking... they still walk.  I am constantly adjusting all my throw rugs all day long... good exercise I guess!

I buy mine thru QVC.  They last a long time. I've had other brands and they just work for me.

I'm guessing the Royal Palace runners/rugs stay better because they're heavier.  Thinner, lighter weight rugs will walk unless you hold them in place with a piece of furniture, but who knows if that will even be successful?

Regarding the rubber pads that can go under the rugs.  Be very cautious if you're using them over other types of flooring.  That goes for the rubber/latex backed mats too.  The latex in the rubber will discolor linoleoum, vinyl tile, or grout the it's resting on.  Once the damage is done, you're out of luck and there's no fixing it.  I found that out the hard way.  I had a rubber backed area rug under my kitchen table.  Our flooring was vinyl.  When I took up the rug, the place where it had been was all yellowed.  We ended up replacing the flooring and no longer have any rubber backed rugs.

Even that didn't work for me.

Have you tried double sided tape?   The kind you use for carpeting.

Once you are on Medicare they will ask you every year if you have slipping or trippable throw rugs.  I'm safe, I've been using throw rugs from Costco for years in various colors.  They are washable and don't move at all.  I think they are in made for bathrooms but they can go anywhere.

They are called throw rugs for a reason; they will throw you. If you are of a certain footing/mobility dexterity, then I recommend you just deal with vacuuming the carpet a few times a week instead of the runners. You can get carpet backing that are like bathroom rugs to prevent slipping, but that doesn't work too well on carpet. There are those upholstery buttons that you can screw through into the carpet underneath keeping the carpet in place. This may be your best option if you just have to keep the things. Otherwise, start a new policy for people entering, brush your feet first. Get a good, stout outdoor mat, and one inside too. If the dirt gets past this, then they should have taken their shoes off before entering.

Or buy better quality rugs. There are some specific for collecting dirt from pets and children/messy adults. LLBean, Front Gate and places like that tend to have them.

Re: Throw rug keeps walking....

The rug I have is pretty heavy, so I am surprised that it walks.

I ordered the pad from QVC, I hope it works.  We really need a rug in that particular area.
