No throw pillows on our bed. Too much clutter for me. And I don't want to have to take them off the bed each night and put them back on in the morning.
In our two guestrooms, I have 1 throw pillow on the bed in one room (twin bed) and 2 throw pillows on the double bed in the other guest room.

Since I switched to quilts with shams on the bed, I've always had the two sleeping pillows and the two with the matching shams when the bed is made up.
During the 1990's and early 2000's, I added four smaller matching throw pillows that I arranged every day when I made the bed.
A number of years ago, I went through my house and in a dual effort to declutter the look, plus rid myself of a lot of softer type things that collect and hold dust (excess pillows, fabric display things like bears, stuffed anything, faux florals etc.) I decided to remove those four throw pillows from the bed.
Looked bare for about 10 minutes, then I was relieved to be free of four more things that took time to deal with every day, took time to keep washed and clean, and filled the room with more 'stuff'.
Sometimes I think we streamline our look by getting rid of things, and other times I think we just trade some things for others!

Pre-minimalist:
My niece asked me what kind of bed I have because it is so short. Well, of course it isn't short--it just looked that way because of ALL the pillows I had on it!
Post-minimalist:
I now have only five pillows on the bed.

I think the most I ever had was 2-3 little decorative pillows. I never really thought they looked that good and dumped them years ago.
I usually "unmake" my bed during the day, turned down so the sheets can air out. It is a healthy thing to do & it also shows off my pretty sheets. I've got extra pillows but I don't share my bed and only use one pillow so that is all I keep on the bed.

I have too many sleeping pillows on my bed and I hate removing some each night. I have two king pillows as well.

They do look nice, don't they?
Oh, I did cut back on the number of them a few years ago already... went a teensy bit overboard on the pillow thing! Then I just told myself that "this is totally ridiculous".... "these things really need to go away"....
So now, one thing I look at and say I like and never buy is throw pillows for sure! They do have some really tempting ones out there though.

When we first got married (almost 12 years ago), the "in" thing on wedding registeries was to register for the fancy bedding sets. Ours was a beautiful set and in order for the look for be complete, we needed ALL of those extra pillows. I'm trying to think back to how many (that set is long gone now), but I believe I had 9 decorative pillows! It would take me forever to make the bed every morning, only to take them all off at night. Subsequent sets have had less decorative pillows.
I still love the look of the extra pillows on my bed, but I realized that I could still get a beautiful look with less pillows. The set I have now has 4 extra decorative pillows. It takes less time to arrange every morning, but still looks lovely.

I never had them on my bed to begin with. Too much fuss and bother for me. I have a couple of throw pillows on my sofa, but that's it.

I've always been a 2 pillow person. I could never be a pillow frufru person. Hate making the bed as it is. Big old King size about kills the back!
