Those of you with TALL lanterns, a ?

I have about 20 lanterns, an addiction, I know, but I never choose the taller lanterns when I have a choice of size. The tallest one that I own is 16" and I have an 8" candle in it. My ? is do you feel like there is too much blank space between the top of the candle and the rest of the lantern. Make sense? Like the picture of the white lantern in the backround on the home page today, short candle and a lot of dead space above it. It looks out of porportion to me. I always buy lanterns without the candle attached, so I can put the size candle in it that I think is appropriate. I know there are tall flameless candles available at PB, but they are super $$. Depending on the color of the slate  TSV lantern, I may be tempted to add to my collection and perhaps one of the larger sizes. Any opinions appreciated. TIA

@country gal  Yes, the lantern would look better with a taller candle, IMO.  I still like the tall one though. When Luminara first brought these in there were comments that the candle should be taller.  You can remove the fixed candle and have a hole in the bottom but your replacement will cover that.  The problem I have with changing out the fixed candle is if you want to hang the lantern outside the candle is just loose inside.  Hope iyou love it if you get it.

There's supposed to be an upcoming Luminara lantern candle offering in four sizes.  The candle sizes start at 4 inches and gradually increase in size, according to the size of the lantern.  In other words, one size candle does not apply to all size lanterns, at least in this upcoming offering.

This is a very timely question. I was at my sister's home this past weekend, and she had a pretty big lantern (3 feet maybe), with a relatively small candle inside.  I didn't care for the look -- the proportion was off I think.

I stick with the shorter lanterns for the same reason...Although it might look ok to use a candle holder under a short candle Inside a tall lantern, I haven't tried it yet.

This is the lantern that I was interested in if the slate color is to my liking. I didn't know that the candle size would increase according to the lantern size. Thanks for that info. That would solve the proportion size issue for me. Now if the color and price are right it will be hard to resist!

fl.jpgYou could do something like this or put a small base  (like styrofoam) in the bottom of the lantern, put the candle on top of that and add some greenery or dried flowers to make the candle look taller and fill in the space....

That's gorgeous! I'm not crafty enough to do that top arrangement, but I like  the idea you suggested for the inside to raise the candle up and fill in the empty space. Thanks!

I don't like the look of a short candle and a tall lantern.  That was one of the reasons I didn't buy the luminara TSV last year.  I prefer to buy the candle and lantern separately.

It's a lot less expensive, for me, to buy the lanterns without attached candles. I get most of my lanterns, locally, at Shopko on sale or clearance and I have plenty of CI and some Luminara candles already to put in them. Having said that, I could be very tempted by the upcoming TSV if the color and price is right. I would LOVE to have one TALL lantern for my fireplace hearth!
