Re: This could be a nice reading room if it was trimmed down a bit!

It does look like a nice cozy spot.  The furnishing are not for me and I'd have to trim out everything and start over.  I'm also not a fan of the built-in bookshelves.  When they're filled, it just looks like clutter to me and I feel claustrophobic...especially in that small of space.  I'd prefer there be some sort of cabinet doors covering most of the open shelving.  Love that window though.

I think the furniture is dated and overpowers the room.  The sofa cushions look like they were grabbed from something else--they don't fit that sofa and hang out over the front.

The other two chairs are very dated, and the two by the fireplace are nice--put them somewhere else.

The coffee table is certainly not made for this room.

I really like the room, but..........the furnishings would have to go and it looks cluttered.  Don't like the chairs almost in front of the fireplace.  I would get rid of the furniture and start over.

My thoughts too!  Get rid of the two chairs by the fireplace.

The chair in front of the fireplace is a huge mistake!

Seems to be a small space for all that furniture. As for the elements, I like the overstuffed floral chair, the shutters, the natural fiber rug and the mantel. That's about it for me, though the room does seem somewhat warm and lived-in rather than being merely staged for a photo shoot.

I like it just as it is!

Actually, I quite like this room just the way it is.  I think open shelving makes some feel a little too busy.  It's funny, in some rooms I love the open shelves and in others I would just as soon they were behind built in doors.  I like them showing here.

It looks cozy enough for reading but a little crowded to me. I like the built-ins & window. I like the plant on the table but not the ones on the mantel. The sofa, striped chair, and fireplace are ok. I don't like the floral chair or the grey ones in front of the fireplace. Not loving the artwork. I really dislike the coffee table.

@CANDLEQUEEN  I like the room but would make a few changes as there is too much furniture and it looks crowded.  I would remove the two chairs in front of the fireplace, along with the striped chair.  I would move the chair that is in front of the window (why do people put furniture in front of a window and block the view) and put it where the striped chair is.  I would also add an ottoman for that chair and a small table to hold a lamp and beverage.  Remove the coffee table as it is just too big and really serves no purpose.  To me, it would then be a perfect reading room.
