Re: The annual declutter and spring cleaning has begun!

I'm still working on it.  I found a few cameras that take film.  What do you do with those?

My pile of items to donate is getting bigger.  I have to pack and organize the items still but looking forward to getting rid of the items.

@Snoopp- Goodwill will take cameras that take film.

I've now begun in the big pitch-it from the basement. Good stuff, we'll take to GW. This just has to be done.

Now that I decluttered all my recipes putting them into recipe card binders, Im decluttering my kitchen .. reorganized my bakers rack by buying a nice large breadbox that holds crackers, chips, etc and making room for my enamel dutch ovens and cast iron pieces..looks so great without all the crackers,  chips, cereal all over the shelves!

I underlined that above. It's true, I got 3 new shelves in the LR alone and I'm enjoying them being empty!!! Not buying anything new to go in those spots. I'm sure I'll think of what I really want to go in there.

Breadbox is a good idea.  Those crackers and chips keep ending up on top of the fridge which I hate.

Re: The annual declutter and spring cleaning has begun!

Started yesterday to keep going on the basement while the momentum is going strong. Got some books at the library too (which always lights a fire under me) on getting organized etc., We decided the garage sale was too much for us to do now, so..regretfully, we won't make money on any of this (treasure) but it seems to mate and grow in the dark when we don't go to that area of the basement.

My main thing now is I have to speak up and say, don't fill these empty spaces I'm creating, I have plans. LOL. For some strange reason, my doing this lights a fire under him and he's doing stuff to his shop. I'll wait to see and just be amazed when he's done.

@qualitygal- I noticed you mentioned getting some books at the library.  I'd like to suggest one that I loved.  It's by Marie Kondo, called The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up- The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.  It's a terrific book, short read.  Totally gets one thinking about all our "stuff" in a different way.  LOVED it.

I had already decluttered back in 2012, but it's a daily process for me.  I always have a shopping bag open in our home office and drop things in it to donate.  When it's full, off it goes and I open another one.   And I love to organize things, it's a hobby of mine.  When I read her book, it made me realize that I'd kind of been following her way of thinking as I parted with possessions.  It was a major bestseller.  If you're on Facebook, she has a huge FB fan page devoted to her method.
