@gidgetgh, yes, last year when someone mentioned that book, I did get it out of the library. It is good and she is right on. I just had run out of steam last year and now, Spring is pushing me onward and upward to finish this off. It'll be a process, but not anything I can't do. Mind is willing, body rebels now and then. I have to listen to that. Thanks.

I haven't felt it so far

We've just come in and sat down to rest from finishing our outdoor spring cleanup. DH washed the eaves of the house which were all black for some reason, and he cleaned the screens on the lanai and the garage. I scrubbed the outdoor furniture and washed windows and screens plus the grill. All in all the outside of the house looks very nice now. And I had already, slowly, decluttered and cleaned inside so we are pleased with how everything looks. Just before we go home for the summer i'm going to have the carpets steam cleaned and they will look very nice when we get back next fall, since no one will be in here walking on them.

I'm working at a snail's pace. I am organizing the "pile" so to speak. I'm still going through summer clothing to see what can be donated. At least I am really getting rid of a lot of clothing this year.

I finally got my DMother to let me start cleaning out her clothes closet. For an 89 woman she has a ton of blouses and tshirts. It has taken me about 5yrs to get her to see I only wanted to help with her clothes. She didn't realize how many were the wrong size and all the horrible stains on the ones I got rid of. I emptied half of her closet and asked about each one. Put as many as she had HH's for and put the rest on the plastic hangers. I must have gotten rid of about 75-100 shirts!!! She still has about 50 I put back in closet. Took over 3 hrs. Next time I'll get the other side of closet. Then closet in another bedroom and the coat closet. It was a start---------tedEbear

@tedEbear that is a huge job you had. I bet she will love having all the new space in her closet.

Just starting myself! Threw out a bunch of old makeup and my old caboodle. Condensed everything in a new $7 plastic basket that is easy to clean out. Much easier to find what I am looking for!

@Brittany-QVC The basket you've found looks great, as does all the makeup the way you have it organized. I could use a similar basket myself for a few purposes.
My spring cleaning will hopefully be restarted today. DH has been sick nearly a month, and I hope this will be it. I have to work on the vanity downstairs, find a way to make the utiliy closet function better, and make yet another pass at my decor stored in the spare bedroom closet. It's been greatly pared down already, but I feel having a few pieces for each season is plenty for me now so more can still go.
I've been decorating less with each season, and have a few pieces that can be changed out very easily instead of moving so many things around. Hope everyone is happy with their progress. Even if things are moving slowly, they're still moving! pinky

@pinky ann Thank you! I am very happy to finally have my makeup organized, it's been working so much better for me, because I can just toss things back in the basket. When I had a caboodle I used to just leave everything out on the counter instead of putting it away in the morning! Plus it was hard to clean because powder would get stuck in the cracks!
Sounds like we have the same mindset on the holiday decorations! I have two or three storage tubs for my Christmas ornaments and garlands, and I have a few nice things for Fall/Halloween/Thanksgiving in a tub too. Other than that we really don't need too much!
Hope your husband feels better soon and that the organizing goes well! Hope others share their pictures as well! Love to see the organizing!

Brittany, We sure are on the same page! Did you post a photo of your fireplace this Christmas? One of the moderators did, and I remember loving it when I saw it. I just can't remember if I posted on the thread or not.I love to see everyone's homes decked to the nines in real life, books or online, but I so love our simple decor. We live in a smaller sized farmhouse, about 1800 sq. ft., so the way we decorate works well with our home and life style.
I did get the utility closet set up better, and thankfully it didn't take long. The vanity needed all of DH's things to be sorted and stored better, and that got done too. It's been a long day, so I decided to just do some laundry rather than the bedroom closet I'd hoped to start. Maybe tomorrow....pinky
