The annual declutter and spring cleaning has begun!

Just taking a break from cleaning out the drawers and cupboards in the kitchen, as I have begun my annual decluttering and spring cleaning.

I always start with every drawer, closet and cupboard in the place. It allows me to get my momentum going before moving on to washing walls, curtains, windows, and steam cleaning furniture (I often leave the carpets till in the summer).

Pulling out, cleaning, and replacing all I have makes me know I don't need another thing, and should rid myself of over half of what I already have.

So far one big box of things going out. Needs to be much more.

Anyone else in the process yet, or thinking about starting?

I keep most areas decluttered throughout the year.  However, I am about to tackle my craft room which has far too many different types of crafts, far too much yarn, & far too many craft books and patterns & other stuff too.  I'm getting rid of almost everything but items related to crafts I've actually worked on in the last year.  A local elementary school art teacher will be happy to get most of my items.

I'm with you on this big project....just did a few drawers and cupboards in my kitchen today.  Then tackled my bedroom closet.  I started right after the new year and have gotten rid of lots.  I got rid of many decorative pieces, since I don't decorate as much as I did in my younger days.  Now I really have to go thru all my clothes...way too much.  It's such a good feeling to open my drawers, linen closet, etc., and actually have room to spare.  Now if only I can keep it this way!

I've taken three loads to Goodwill this spring - next job is my basement which will happen this summer.  Feels great to get rid of things I don't use.

Mominohio, can I hire you......ha.    I am thinking of hiring a professional declutterer and someone to clean my house, wash my windows, and over all cleaning.   I am disabled and can't even begin to to try to clean.    When I wasn't ill I could clean  with the best of them.   I like my cleaning more than anyone else, but I can't.    My husband just does not get it.   He does not see the dirt, so every weekend when he cleans I am upset.  Does anyone know how much a professional declutter costs?

I've made a start, but need to get some momentum going, that's for sure. Kitchen and my closet are the most needed areas in my house this year, I've kept the rest in pretty good shape this year.

Re: The annual declutter and spring cleaning has begun!

During the big snowstorm over the weekend, I emptied my husband's closet, and gave it a thorough cleaning.  He sorted his clothes; I washed everything he is keeping, before putting it back inside.  Another big declutter task accomplished.
