I was always a Hoover girl and was faithful to the brand for 40 years. Own a WindTunnel, Hoover Floor Mate and a Hoover carpet steam cleaner. They have served me well and lasted a long time without any problems. I was lured by the Shark Lift Away Rotator. I am extremely happy with that. It's lightweight and really picks up the dirt well. I only have one cat, but it looks like I have 5 inside the container.

I noticed the switch on my Windtunnel is getting ready to go and I ordered the Shark Rocket to replace the "soon to die" Hoover that I keep on the second floor. Easy to click the parts together, didn't even look at the manual till later. It really pulls itself forward and the motor is powerful. I will say the head is light weight and sort of lifts off the floor if I go to quickly, but it fits between the dining room chairs, under the front of the sofa and right up to the toe kicks in the kitchen. The cup does not hold a lot and needs to be emptied often, but very easy to do. My disappointment was the motorized head that you can put on the hand held part. I had thought that it would be great for the stairs, but it does not have wheels and there is so much suction that it just sticks when you try to push it. It may work well on a different surface. Then I realized that I could connect the main vacuum head to the hand held part and that worked great on the stairs. I like having all the different attachments, the problem is storing them all. I can't decide whether to keep it upstairs or downstairs (first world problem, I know). The other thing I'm not crazy about is that it won't stand on it's own.

All in all, I'm happy with it and no matter where I end up putting it, it's lightweight enough to carry up and down the stairs even for an old girl, like me.

Re: The Shark Rocket....review

Glad you like it. I ordered it and have yet to receive it. Hope it works out for me. I have the original Dyson and love it, but that thing is a monster, so I was hoping for something more navigable. I'd considered a small Shark upright until I saw this one and hope I don't end up wishing I'd just stuck with an upright!

Re: The Shark Rocket....review

I bought this as well and just received it today. I have the Shark navigator lift-away right now and I am very impressed with its cleaning/suction power. I didn't even need instructions with the Rocket either as it was very easy to put together. I have to say I mostly bought it for a hard floor sweeper and probably wont even use the motorized head piece. I put the white pad on it and it dusts very nicely. Picks up a lot as well. It reaches under a lot which I like too. I love the fact it is corded and I don't have to beat the clock with something that is rechargable. Plus I can just throw the pads in the wash when I am done.

I am glad you posted a review. I was debating between this vacuum and the Shark Rocket Professional Vacuum(V32511). The professional version has a lot of high ratings. Thanks for your thorough review, it helped me!

Re: The Shark Rocket....review

I can't wait to get mine. Hopefully tomorrow. I love my purple shark. I'm very happy with it's vacuuming abilities. I hope this vacuums the dog hair easily off the floors. I'm also hoping it will be able to easily vacuum under the king size bed. Glad you are so happy with yours. The reviews look good so far.

Re: The Shark Rocket....review

I received mine yesterday, very easy to put together. I have a small throw rug that neither my Oreck or Electrolux couldn't clean right. This Rocket made the rug look brand new, then the family room and kitchen. I couldn't believe what I picked up. Today the bedroom and it cleans under a king size bed like a charm. Tomorrow my husband will do living and dining rooms, he can't wait. We are like kids with a new toy. Friday I will clean carpets with my new Bissell Liftaway. Spring cleaning has begun. I highly recommend both these items! {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

I bought mine at Kohl's and absolutely LOVE it. Went through the house yesterday and it does clean very well. Great getting dust off wood floors. Don't know if I'd want to use it for carpets, but for a quick cleaning, it will probably be OK.

Which attachment did you try on your wood floors--the 2-speed brushroll or the Dust-away with the pad? Just curious because the presentation I watched didn't spend a lot of time on the Dust-away with pad. I have an interest in this unit but have all hard floors and only a few small rugs.

Re: The Shark Rocket....review

For me, it's going to have to do a complete job on both rugs and hard wood floors. That's what I have and so that's what I need something to handle. One machine needs to work well for both, otherwise it'll go back...

Mine arrived, but I haven't used it yet. Hoping it lives up to the presentation.

Kel, I just re-read this thread and saw your mention of using the Dust-away head with pad. Appreciate the info.
