I have been trying to replace my favorite Malden Mills Polar Fleece sheets for some time. The previous Malden Mills TSV order that I placed, was unable to be fullfilled. It also appears that basic sheet set I wanted is not coming back in, anytime soon.

So, I am looking for other options and do not know the difference between polar fleece and microfiber fleece sheets. Could anyone out there explain the difference or have suggestions for a similar sheet set?

i googled the difference....microfiber fleece is lighter weight....i prefer cotton flannel...

Just a guess here:

Polar Fleece has been around longer. I believe it is a Malden trademark. It's a polyester fiber that's puffy and insulates well. Known for pilling less than cheaper fleece.  Probably warmer than microfiber.

Microfiber is just that -- a  thinner fiber that has a silkier feel. Generic, not trademarked. 

I tried Polar fleece sheets but they were too warm for me. I've never tried microfiber fleece.

Did your flannel sheets shrink much. Flannel clothing can shrink so badly!

never had a problem with shrinking...always washed in cold water....dried on low....remember them being Portugal flannel...don't remember where i bought them from.....maybe llbean.....

I believe Polar Fleece is a brand name for a type of micro fleece.  There are, of course, different qualities of micro fiber, some quite thin and cheap.  I've got a Catherine Zeta-Jones blanket that I can see through, very thin. The poorer quality also pills.

I went through the whole polar/micor fleece sheet period and have recently gone back to my made in Portugal 100% cotton flannel sheets.  LL Bean sells nice prints and the quality is great.  Expensive yes, but in the past those sheets have lasted 15 years at least!   While I still have 2 sets of Malden Mills sheets I won't purchase anymore.  I have a brand new flannel set on my Bean wish list.   Just waiting until after the holidays to order.

I have 3 sets of polar fleece QVC sold and we cannot tolerate them. Way too HOT for us. So if someone is cold natured, these would be the ticket. Thought I could use them in the lower level guest room where it tends to stay cool, and even guests commented on getting too warm. Guess they are headed to a garage sale.

Polar fleece has been around for a long time and is warmer and thicker than microfleece. I prefer my old polar fleece throws and DH wears his polar fleece jackets he has had several years instead of the tech micro fleece jacket that cost a fortune but isn't warm enough. We don't use flannel or fleece sheets. Would love to try some but DH doesn't even sleep with a sheet or anything else on top of him...too hot! On the other hand,I have fleece pjs and four layers...sheet, comforter, two blankets....and fleece socks, just to get warm. I have never even seen polar fleece sheets; seems they would be far too thick and heavy to sleep on. Flannel or microfleece sound more practical.
