It has always been my dream to have an actual guestroom in my home - one like we used to stay in at DH's aunt's home.... a guestroom that makes guests feel welcome and pampered and does not double as a den, office or kiddie playroom. We've never had a house big enough to allow for one.
If you have a lovely guestroom, can you tell us about it?
I'd love to hear all the delightful details :-)

We have a guest room, but rarely have guests anymore.
There are several antiques in the room.....double bed with a high head board and shorter foot board...very nice $50.00 find at a garage sale. It is in excellent condition!
I have my grandmothers wardrobe.....nice large piece of furniture, two doors and two drawers at the bottom. I keep blankets in it as well as jackets, blazers for the current season. There is also a dressing table. in the room....on the back there is a bank of 3 mirrors, that attaches to the back of the 'table' and a drawer...I keep socks, and hosery in the drawer. I have a bench with a needlepoint top that sits in front of the dressing table. There are two other side tables on either side of the bed. One wall has a really pretty wall paper...in the design there is a rough texture in spots (imagine sand). It is light green and a light creme....the other walls are a dark green.
Lately I have been sleeping in the room...my back problem makes me toss and turn and I don't disrupt my husband.

I live in a 3,000 sq ft house that raised 3 daughters and a husband. Daughters moved out (2 married) and husband died. So you can say I have several guest rooms...HA! But no one spends the night except when the daughter from Denver comes for short visits.
The main one set up for her has twin beds (antique furniture) beautiful long dresser with mirror attached, a fancy highboy (all in fruitwood, I think). It is very large just because it was my oldest daughter's bedroom. It is done in a kind of lavender wallpaper on 3 sides with bookshelves. A nightstand sits between the beds and on one side of the room sits a stand that holds a huge dictionary. The long dresser has covered glass made for it. The beds are 4 poster beds and very decorative.
OK, I don't take any credit for decorating. My late husband designed the entire house and picked the furniture, etc. I find all of it boring. I never touch the furniture (move it) from the day I move in. None of it interests me (although I used to wallpaper every wall) That's the one thing he didn't like but left me alone. The bedspreads are done in lavender.
My favorite room is my sewing room. It's wallpapered in pretty flowers and is most done in a true light blue color.
There is another bedroom that has a trunnel bed (with the pull out trunnel bed under it. The bed is white decorative wrought iron. The dresser is white antique with fruitwood top. There is a round table next to the bed. Altogether there could be 6 bedrooms, but we made one into an amazing toy room.
I hope to move out of here one day. Too much yard, too much house. Trouble is I'm lazy. Ha! The furniture in the 'guest' room came from my Mother. She bought it and didn't like it so we bought it from her. I know zip about antiques.
I've never described any of this before, so it was funny for me to put it in 'writing'. I sometimes think how would I describe it when selling it.
Oh! The house is all carpeted because I have arthritis. In the bedrooms are scattered carpeting (the one bedroom has lavender carpets (scattered, near bed) over them.
I forgot to add that two of what were bedrooms has a bathroom in between them (access from both bedrooms) I've been told it is called a Jack and Jill bathroom. He designed it so my girls could slop it up and we could close it off to visitors.
My late husband had amazing taste....

We have 3 bedrroms in our house. Our master bedroom, a guest bed room, and a den for DH with a pull out bed in his couch. The guest beddrom is always made up and ready for any unexpected visitor. When we had cats, the door was kept closed. I'm embarrassed to admit that the closet there is almost full of my "extra" clothes. Here is a photo.

We have a guest room. We have a queen sized Murphy bed there and our daughter comes at least once a month from another state to check on us old folks. That Murphy bed was worth it's weight in gold!

My guest room is my daughters former room. It is not big but cozy an welcoming.
It has bright Mexico inspired colors. That is how she had it and doesn't want me to change it. Lol!!!! So it is painted in red/yellow, white floor, white bed, turquoise curtains and bedding and red night stand and dresser. Decorated with some of my travel photos, family pictures ,Mexican turquoise sombrero hat.
So it is very happy room with large mirrored closet( most of which we occupied immediately after our daughter moved out). Also it has room darkeners for the guests comfort sleep.
We have people over a few times a year, not often, but still happening.
I also iron there, or one of us sleeps there not to disturb the other during a lousy sleeping night. There,I told my story.

My guest room is a kiddie play room. I bought bunk beds with a wide set of steps that have drawers for spare clothes & a trundle bed under the bunks. A cabinet that holds books, puzzles, a cd player & cds. A box of coloring/craft paper supplies, a doll house & various boxes that hold Legos, Lincoln Logs, Hot Wheels, etc. I put it together when I had 3 grandsons. Now I have 5 grandsons. Adults are welcome to stay in the bunks if they want, but mainly I encourage grandsons!

Queen platform bed, night stand with touch light, phone and tissues. Lots of hangers in the closet. Antique table with lamp. Chair. Pictures on two walls. There's an alarm clock and fan in the closet. Cream wall to wall carpeting. Room is cream. Color theme of room is sage. No dresser, but there's a long shelf in the closet to put things you don't hang.
Full bath one door over. Also cream, with sage shower curtain and towels. Cream ceramic floor. Tub with shower.
