Target is recalling millions of candles over concerns that the jars can break while in use, leading to burns and lacerations.

The recall involves 2.2 million Threshold Candles, sold exclusively at Target from February 2020 through July 2023, the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced in an alert posted Thursday. Over 60 varieties of Threshold Candles are involved, including 5.5-ounce one-wick candles and the 20-ounce three-wick candles in multiple scents.

Only one injury has been reported thus far, though Target has received 19 reports of the candles breaking or cracking while in use.

Wow, thank you for posting this. That is scary. I was in Tar

get the other day and noramlly would have looked at the candles, but was ready to go.

It is hard to trust anything these days!

isn't it possible, but improbably, that ANY GLASS JAR CANDLE could break while burning?  This seems silly.  Should all candlemakers recall all glass jar candles?

It's expected that anyone burning candles take reasonable care and not throw them at anybody.

I currently only use Yankee original large jar candles; about a month ago when I was lighting one, the jar blew out on the side, sending shards of glass all over the kitchen counter. So glad I was alone and no one was in the path of the glass when it broke. I have never had anything like that happen before. I contacted Yankee and they immediately sent me a new one in the same scent. I am guessing it was a weak or defective spot on the jar. Have never had that happen and have been using Yankee and a few others for decades. I imagine Target is erring on the side of caution by recalling all of the candles; from what I remember, those candles are in a thinner container so the possibility of injury would be likely if it cracked or shattered.

I only ever burn candles in glass jars no more than 3 hours, usually only 2 for that very reason. I think sometimes when they are burning too long, that glass gets way too hot...

It can happen with any Candle Brand..That is why most tell you not to burn more than 2-3 hours at a time.....

I also never burn candles in a room where I am not in, way too dangerous!!
