Dishes and tableware are my ""shoes and purses"". I'd rather have kitchen stuff than any fashion item ever.

I am exactly the same way - I have enough tablecloths and placemats to change every week for a year - and holiday stuff is worse! I love this woodland tablescape (Pottery Barn) but buying everything might lead to divorce court.

{#emotions_dlg.lol}.......So you have tablescapes with moving parts? Can you share a pic...or better yet, a video? {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

This is a mug shot of the purr-petrator. He was caught cat burgling through drawers and the blinds. I don't have any table pictures because the whirl of fur would be hard to capture as he's running away from the scene of the crime.

Hi Lolakimono, Thank you so much for sharing! Awwww...bless his heart! With such an innocent look on his face, I bet he gets away with a lot of shenanigans {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

Uh oh, I'm afraid to look at that Blog.

I love dinnerware and having things just so. Although with just my husband and me, I don't do near what I used to at the holidays.

There is nothing like a well-set table and lovely tablescapes to make your heart sing!

Same here, Witchy Woman! I used to have several sets of dinnerware - one for each season/holiday. Now that the kids have grown and we're empty nesters, I don't "do" the table or even the decorating as much. Maybe once grandkids come along, hopefully soon! Smiley Wink

Ha ha! Mine quite often includes either/or a naughty grey tabby, orange tabby, or black kitty cat! Oh, and sometimes one large white dog peeking his nose over the edge. {#emotions_dlg.biggrin}

A furry placemat??? Maybe lolakimono's naughty orange cat could be part of the decor.

Re: Table settings/tablescapes

Seeing that sweet orange kitty reminded me of the time I was serving dinner to my parents and some of their dear friends from Long Island.

During the dessert service my large gray Alistair jumped into the center of the table just missing the cherry pie. What could I say?

Everyone sat wide-eyed while I carefully removed him from the table. Of course, he snagged the placemats with his claws.

He was roundly scolded, and sulked off to a corner.

Nothing like a big ol' cat in your "tablescape." {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Nana5 and Witchy Woman.......{#emotions_dlg.lol}

While looking at the owls on our Christmas tree this morning, I just thought of all those owls of varying sizes that a lot of has purchased over the past couple of years. What a GREAT tablescape it would be to use them with the BH&G owl salad plates! I've noticed that the owl salad plate aren't nearly as desireable on EBay as the other patterned salad plates. So for those that have them, and don't like them as much as the other salad plates, or folks that do like them, hope you like the idea Smile

Re: Table settings/tablescapes

LOL, oh I love to do different place settings for different seasons. My Mom started me early on with my own set of Lenox Holiday and I use them every year - even when its only me for dinner.

I'm laughing about the cat in the tablescape stories. I have 2 Siamese and putting a tablecloth on the table is an invitation to fun and games as they love to hide under it and jump out at one another. Inevitably one of them then winds up on the table. I try and keep that to a minimum when there are visitors - when it is just family, well, we're used to it.
