     After reading the responses I see we're in the minority, haha, in liking the "moody look" of the first home. Like you said in your post it just doesn't appeal to most. 

So funny, I guess it's much like most people perfer sunshine to rain.... I prefer rain.

 @GingerHead , we're a vocal minority!  Sometimes I can be swayed by majority opinion-- even when it comes to interior design-- but, in this case it's you and I who, I'm convinced, are on the right track ( she said modestly, ha).

@Oznell  Haha, I love it! I agree!

 

    As for the others, maybe you should start posting pictures of beautiful moody interiors and maybe just maybe after being exposed to them enough they'll come on over to the "Dark side!"
