The 'Cote de Texas' blogger paid tribute to the late Dan Carithers, a much-loved Atlanta designer. I find it very edifying to look at these rooms he did in the past. "Clutter phobes" won't like them. They are rich, layered, with gorgeous furniture and fabrics. His lovely things I would never call "clutter", but the rooms in general are somewhat more "foo-foo" than I prefer. But beautiful. He claimed to be the biggest purchaser of ultra-deluxe Brunschwig and Fils fabric, and it shows!
The first photos are of his own house over the years, and then there are some images of rooms he did for clients.
His sitting room. Later he ditched the animal print for a plainer fabric. Some of his redware is displayed in this casual room.
His dining room in its neutral phase. Later he injected blue.
His son in the warm, country kitchen:
Detail of the kitchen:
The breakfast room. I like those fanciful little palm trees.
The study:
One of his children's bedrooms. I do love toile, and this green toile is pretty:
Oh, I almost overlooked this, and it's one of the many interesting little tidbits the 'Cote' blogger gave. Apparently, Dan Carithers was one of the huge popularizers of creamware in the United States, and this was part of his beautiful collection, purchased in Norway, which he displayed in his living room. I think it would be fun to be known as the popularizer of some key decorative element!
Now, here are some rooms he did for clients:
I like when a home library is flooded with light, not dark.
White ceramics against chocolate walls, rather dramatic.
Handsome timelessness:
As usual, "Cote" did such a nice job of showcasing the work of a designer she appreciates. The late Mr. Carithers seems like a gracious gent with a discerning eye:

There is a lot to take in but overall, I enjoy his aesthetic, which, to me, is somewhat similar to that of Charles Faudree, another designer I admired.

Boy, so much to look at here. All very beautiful. Definitely thru the eyes of an artist. I don't have that much of an artistic vision or a huge budget, so its interesting to see how this designer put rooms together.
There was an earlier thread about blue n white ginger jars and here they are showcased in one of the rooms. I luv blue n white - any shade of blue; from pastel shades to deep dark navy's.

Bless the person that dusts and cleans this home.

I like some of the individual pieces but not the design aesthetic. Too formal, frou-frou, & cluttered for me. I like the built-in bookshelf in the library & the natural wood beams in some of the rooms.

I find this home style and decor very appealing. The furniture is elegant and the rooms are filled with beauty. I would be most comfortable living there surrounded by such lovely design!
