Terri Woodall, and her former NFL player husband Lee, live in a stately Georgia home. They've made lots of compromises-- he loves lots of space around him, but she wanted to downsize. She wants people around her, and he's more of a loner, it sounds like. But they both feel compelled to reach out and help people.
I'm insane about any structure with a fieldstone-type facade-- so earthy and reassuring.
This shot of the colonnade or porch shows the beautiful stone--
They both love the house's wine cellar (which seems to have been there when they bought it, but has been tweaked by them.) It's now like a romantic little Parisian cafe, love it!
So elegant, yet inviting...
This surprise in the cellar below just killed me-- there's a "skylight" of sorts, above them, that is part of their kitchen floor! They walk over it every day. Love this detail:
In the "Homeworthy" video tour that they do of their house, they mention that they have couple friends that use this vault-like wine cellar as a "date" destination, and eat in here!!
Some couples who have had challenges in their marriages have "ironed out" things in the cellar. And when her sister was too timid to meet a blind date, she finally felt safe to meet him if it could be in Terri's 'cellar cafe'!
So, even though as non-drinkers they don't use it themselves, they are offering a cozy respite to others in their lives....
I like her clean aesthetic in the rest of the house. She admits to being a huge fan of white, but I do find the way that she tempers it with beautiful browns, and with wood, it comes off warm, like in her stunning office/ den--
The video whole-house tour at "Homeworthy" is well worth a look.
But it was that intimate wine cellar that drew me in. Something about home wine cellars and saunas always gets me. A return to the cave perhaps, ha.

I really don't drink, but I have a wine rack as part of my living room decor. It currently holds an angel on the shelf part for Christmas. The wine in the rack is old. You really wouldn't want to drink it. Most are from our wedding over 20 years ago. I bought one because I liked the bottle.

@Oznell Have you ever seen a grown man drool? Lol
Showed the pics to hubby and he was envious. I don't drink, so it doesn't hold appeal to me, but hubby likes wine and has his collection, but certainly nothing like this.
Very nice home!

@Icegoddess , and @Pezzie , that's what's funny, in my particular case, about my attraction to wine cellars-- like you, I'm not really a drinker. The last time I had alcohol, was maybe 5 years ago, a glass of wine with dinner in a restaurant.
And my husband, doesn't drink at all. But when we saw that atmospheric little space, we both coveted it a little. It must be the little European "bistro" atmosphere in there, along with the moody lighting...
We have a skinny, ( 3 or 4 feet wide ?) dusty little root cellar in our 1910 basement-- one wall is crumbling, ancient but not picturesque fieldstone, and another is old plywood that is bowing out... pretty sure that is not a candidate for my dream space....

Oh my that is a stunner!
I too am a huge fan of fieldstone facades and that parisian cafe looking area is something of my dreams!

The wine cellar is charming! If I lived there, I would use it for a reading room, game room, yoga room, meditation place & somewhere to just get away from it all & chill out. Would house my purse or book collection in there instead of wine.

Way too dark and gloomy for me--don't get the wine thing that is so big for most things in life--would never ever devote space for wine, in my world. But that's me---

@AZfem , those are brilliant ideas! Any vaulted or even non-vaulted small space can be given oomph and "atmosphere" like theirs-- you don't need wine bottles, just nice finishes and imagination-- and serve, as you suggest, as an exquisite small library, game room, meditiation/ prayer space or getaway. Just love that.

The exterior of the house looks cold but it might just have been be a dreary day when the photos were taken.
I love the Wine Cellar. I will take a look at the video.

We are not Wine People, so we would use that room for something else entirely. I love the look of the inside of the home, but the outside is not hitting me, it may be the colors used, but it is not welcoming to me....The inside however looks very pretty!!!
