Re: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS LIVING ROOM OF THE NEWMANS

[ Edited ]

@Oznell  I 'drive by' more than I watch these days so someone might well be more up to date on the dwellings...

The ranch tack house appears to be where Clair and possibly Victoria are living. It's been sort of a temporary refuge for just about everyone, but I enjoy the cozy, farm-like ambiance, though it's had several iterations.

Sharon is ensconced in what I think used to be referred to as the gate house on 'the ranch'. It was fixed up and given to her and Nick many, many years ago as a wedding present. The marriage has had its ups and downs but the cottage goes on and on.

The main house is the one recently re-imagined and transitioned from a different main house Victor and Nicki resided in after Sharon torched the original main house but before Victor built the new house for his lady love.

I've yet to get a solid look at Billy's new digs but from what I've seen, no big deal.

The Abbott mansion is elegant and classy but some would probably consider it, too, to be a bit cluttered.

The old Chancellor house was pretty in an 80's traditional sort of way. It was modernized a few years ago but, to me, looks sort of unfinished.

The Athletic Club and Society are the two somewhat elegant dining spots and the AC is also a hostelry.

I remember when Mrs. Chancellor wore a scarf across the bottom half of her face.  It has been years and I can't remember why she did this....

I don't remember Kay ever wearing the veil. Are you sure it was Mrs. C, or could it have been Vanessa Prentiss (played by KT Stevens), mother of Lucas and Lance Prentiss, from the very early days? Lance, incidentally, was initially played by John McCook, now Eric on Bold and Beautiful. Vanessa had been burned in a fire which was why she wore the partial veil face covering.

Great pictures of Mary's beautiful apartment. At night she would pull out the sofa sleeper and that was her bed. I remember when she upgraded to a one bedroom new apartment that was not nearly as charming the original apartment.

Re: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS LIVING ROOM OF THE NEWMANS

@stevieb ,  more good stuff on the interior sets at Y and R.  Thanks, it really fills it in for me!  I haven't watched for decades and have missed a lot.  I think the last time I watched, "Jill" was a major character, and there was a "Snapper" too,  I think.  Eons ago.

@just bee , wow, thanks so much for posting those fabulous photo's of Mary's apartment.  The ones you found are great quality and really show it off to its advantage.  No wonder Rhoda wanted to scoop it up too, in that first episode...

Love every aspect of it, even the tiny kitchen and the little dressing room that we almost never saw....

Agree totally, @50Mickey ,  the highrise apartment she moved into just didn't have the same appeal-- even if she didn't have to unpack her couch every night just to sleep!

Re: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS LIVING ROOM OF THE NEWMANS

The set is relatively new, but I know Nikki loved it when Victor brought her in for the reveal. The window treatment is one thing I'd change. I understand that sets are small, and dollars limited on soaps, but it seems millionaires only have room in their living rooms for a sofa and a few uncomfortable side chairs. However, when I compare this set to Bill Spencer's on Bold & Beautiful, this one has a real feel to it.

Re: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS LIVING ROOM OF THE NEWMANS

Regarding other TV sets, I loved the Leave It To Beaver house after they moved to a newer house. The living room was spacious, and had a small game table tucked away. Plus, they had a den! The Bewitched house was another favorite, and I couldn't believe how big the Family Affair apartment was(4 bedrooms and a den). I'd love to know what building it was supposedly in, and check out the rents nowadays.

I have to say, before everyone pointed out the striped curtains in the Newman's manse, I barely noticed them as being out of place or "too much" pattern going on.

However, when overnight the room was completely decorated for their Christmas shows, I was stunned at how much they crammed into that room!!!

Beautiful and completely over-the-top IMHO.  They went hog wild. LOLOL Cat LOL

Re: THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS LIVING ROOM OF THE NEWMANS

I always loved the sunken living room in MTM's apartment and I especially loved the stained glass partition that separated the kitchen from the living room which she could move up and down.
