Have you been trying, like I have, to accept that winter is here and might as well enjoy what we can? Ha. I am not exactly a snow and ice person, mainly b/c of the driving conditions...
The BBC has helped me! If you google their How Great Artists Depict Winter in 10 Sublime Paintings" , you'll see why. (Edited to correct typo-- thanks @Bhvbum ).
That one above, by Pieter Bruegel the Elder, is so full of teeming life and chilly beauty. Painted in 1565, oil on wood.
On the other hand, look at this one by Theodore Rousseau, "The Forest in Winter at Sunset". To me, it's brooding and unsettling and a little scary. But mesmerizing.
This one has a kind of hushed, midnight magic-- "Drum Bridge at Meguro and Sunset Hill" by Utagawa Hiroshige. It depicts an old bridge in an area that is now the city of Tokyo.
Some of them burst with color! Even though they are supposedly depicting snow, like Kandinsky's "Winter Landscape" done in 1911:
I have only one modern art print with a winter theme, that I picked up years ago. When our son came along, it seemed perfect for his room. It's Canadian artist Alberto de Castro's "Learning to Skate". The naive exuberance of the skaters, and the loving parents, are what drew me to it:
Careening back to the 1600's, here's another kind of skating scene! It's by Hendrick Avercamp, "A Winter Scene with Skaters Near a Castle". It might be my favorite:
Anyway, the BBC site is fun, especially for those of us who have to be coaxed into winter!
Do you like to look at winter scenes? Or would you blithely skip it?

Thank you for this treat @Oznell. I love winter scenes myself, and this is a lovely array of paintings.

Your descriptions are spot on as usual @Oznell
I especially love the one you chose for your sons room. I to love the way the parents are watching over their child. Thanks for sharing this beautiful art with us. Happy New Year.

Thank you @Oznell for the lovely art; I recognized the first one but liked them all. The one for you son's room is wonderful!

I like the first and last pictures very much. I remember ice skaing every winter at our grammar school park.

I love winter scenes but only our in-house sophisticate, @Oznell , would think to find winter paintings on BBC's list!
As for me, I only changed my Roku "wallpaper" to a snow scene (shown here), and also for my email accounts with their respective options.

I think my favorite is the Kandinsky. Interesting thread @Oznell !

Thanks, @godi , -- Happy New Year to you and yours as well! And Happy 2022 to all our poster pals too!
That screen background you've found should definitely foster a 'winter wonderland' mood, @GingerPeach -- pretty.
