Re: Symmetry in the Living Room...

I like this look. Not in my home though. Doesn't invite you in.

Re: Symmetry in the Living Room...

I kind of thrive on assymmetry.

However, in this case I simply don't like the room.  Even if you mess up the symmetry.

I don't like the disparity of symmetry versus geometry.  Circles competing with squares.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

It's ok, but I prefer more color and less symetry.

Ok, until my eyes hit the mirrors. Give me something to attract my eye and hold it with appreciation; not gaudiness.

Re: Symmetry in the Living Room...

I like symmetry, but not the exact same items.  Is there a word for that?

For example, using that same room, I would have had similar sized mirrors, but in complimentary finishes and design -- not the exact same mirrors.

The two exact sofas are nice, but different pillows are a must.  Plus different chairs that convey the same feeling, just not two of the exact same chairs.

A pretty room, but maybe a bit too much symmetry. It ends up looking abit too perfect!

Re: Symmetry in the Living Room...

Symmetry done in rigid "twos" is not pleasing to the eye. It comes off looking sterile and contrived.

I agree with decorating theory that things should be do e in " threes". I also prefer things that go together rather than exactly match.

Re: Symmetry in the Living Room...

I like it but it’s a little too orderly. 👀🙂
