I actually like the room itself. I would see a cozy sitting room there. Is this Europe? Has a different feel to it.

I like it.  I am assuming it is not a front door entry, but most likely a private space perhaps overlooking the back yard.  The room seems very personal and significant to the owner.  I'm sure that the furnishings have been selected with care and consideration as they are not the norm.  I love that someone risk and had the courage to follow their instincts as to what was meaningful and created a sacred space for themselves.

I would move the container with the plant underneath the woman's portrait to kind of camouflage and to allow more open area for swinging.
