Suspect Reviews about Dyson Cordless vacuums

I own the DC44..Today's Special Value. I've owned it for 2 or 3 yrs and I love it. I was looking to Upgrade it to the Dyson DC59. I see QVC offers it and I was looking at the reviews. There were two 5 star reviews and one 1 Star. I read the 1 star and it said I always wanted a Dyson and this is no good..I have 2 toddlers and it doesn't pick up crackers that they drop...ETC...Sent it back..So I decided to look at all HER REVIEWS and I notice that she also claims to have Purchasded the DC44 and she starts the review the same way..I've always wanted a DYSON and this is NO GOOD NO SUCTION ETC.... I think that she is FULL OF YOU KNOW WHAT and maybe she works for another VACUUM COMPANY??? I'm wondering how many of these REVIEWS ARE REAL???? I know I try to be TRUTHFUL and give my HONEST OPINION..I'm not sure EVERYONE DOES THAT!

If someone bought one and didn't like it, how stupid would buying another be? You should not be allowed to do a review if you haven't bought the item. I think HSN will not let you do a review if you haven't bought it there - at least that's how it used to be.

Re: Suspect Reviews about Dyson Cordless vacuums

I don't take reviews anywhere so seriously that I'd base my buying decision on a total of 3 reviews.

When I bother to check for reviews, I use them to get a general idea of what many buyers think because no matter what safeguards companies put in, someone figures out a way around them and posts useless or biased information. That stands out when there are a tiny number of reviews, but by the time there are 50 or more reviews, you have a better chance of knowing something ,ore true and real about a product.

You still have to make your own decision, but if something has 3 reviews? I'd trust my own judgment long before I'd care about reviews even if all 3 people had actually bought the item.

If I see a dozen or more reviews saying the same thing, I tend to believe it. If there are just a few reviews and they are all over the place, I make a decision based on the item facts. I was just reading a review on denim and company capri pants. The person gave 5 stars because she liked the item, but was upset that it sold out and she couldn't buy it. She also included a note for qvc to contact her when they come back in stock. To make matters worse, a number of customers found that review helpful. I don't get it.

Many companies pay for people to write reviews. this is not legal, but it is not easy to catch people doing it, or prosecute.

I no longer trust online reviews. There is no way to tell if they are fake or real. And honestly, most people who are happy with a product don't bother to write reviews. People who are unhappy with a product run to their computers to complain.

I want to buy a stick. I own several other Dysons. I only want to get the top of the line. I went to Dyson and still can't figure out which is top of the line.

Re: Suspect Reviews about Dyson Cordless vacuums

I went back to Dyson website. The DC44 is 3rd in line. It weighs a little more than the DC59 which is the top of the line, (i.e. 4.6 vs 5.07 lbs).

I couldn't find the power of the motor of the one QVC sells, but it is also called "Animal" as is the top of the line.

I once tried out the stick and since all of my floors are carpeted, I got tired of trying to use the stick. My guess it was the DC44, I don't remember.

I think I might buy it for one of my daughters. They both have Dysons (one the ball and one the Gray one) and they all have all wood floors.

The daughter with the Gray one has had her's worked on (forget the problem) but it didn't cost her a penny, was done quickly and she loves her Dyson.

You really have to take the reviews on this site with a grain of salt. Some people write reviews when they have not even bought the product. I have a Dyson canister - it has terrible reviews because many claim they can't pull it across the floor. That's right - you actually have to lift up the ""nose"" of the canister where there is a rubber stopper to keep it from scratching the floors - slight lift up on the hose and away it goes. Just as it said in the instructions that came with it. Some people are apparently not very smart.

Hi! Have you tried calling Dyson and talking to a rep about your needs and with your questions? They are an outstanding company and the people there know what they're talking about, too. They seem to care and are very kind toward their loyal customers. Plus, they don't try to hard-sell you. Dyson is one of my favorite companies for a myriad of reasons, including their top notch customer service. I have numerous stories about how they go above and beyond.

It's a thought. Smiley Happy
