Suggestions for a new refrigerator

[ Edited ]

I am looking at new french door refrigerators.  I buy a lot of produce ao capacity is a primary concern.  I love the quality of a Kitchen aide that I've seen, but it is quite a bit smaller than the LG and Samsung that I'm also considering.  The reviews are highest on the Kitchenaide and so is the price.  For function, I'm leaning towards the LG.    Some of the reviews are not too comforting on the LG and especially on the Samsung.  Any recommendations?

Re: Suggestions for a new refrigerator

i just purchased the fridiare 27" french door freezer on bottom. love it but the bins for veggies and fruit are the same size as previous maytag. SIL just bought LG double door actually 2 doors and a 1/2. the ice is back in the bottom freezer and the spigot for water on the door is strange. produce drawers are the same size as previous. but she wanted stainless steel so thats the model she chose

I bought the LG in February.  Reviews on LG were much better than on the Samsung.  I don't cook much, so mine has a lot of extra space, and I can't tell you the functonality how would work for someone who really fills it to the brim.  I think it would be okay, and I love it!

Thanks for your response.  I noticed the reviews on the LG were better than the Samsung and I am headed in that direction.  I am glad to hear you are loving it and have had no problems.  I feel more confident in the reviews from my fellow forum members than looking on store reviews....thanks.

I am wondering which model your SIL purchased with the 2 1/2 doors.   Everything I'm looking at is french doors so my produce does not hide out in the depths of the small shelf space that was created by the double doors.   Thanks for your input, I gather that your SIL is happy with her LG and I'm pretty such that is the brand and I've narrowed it down to and the model I most likely will purchase.  Thanks for letting me know there hasn't been any problems with her refrigerator.  I appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Re: Suggestions for a new refrigerator

My mother has a Samsung, and she stuffs it full. It is very large and sticks out past her 1978 cabinets, but the kitchen is being remodeled. It has the ice and water in the door. I'm more of the basics person, thinking that all those bells and whistles complicate things, but they are nice to have when they work. Appliances are made today to last about 5 years, not the usual 20 of the days of old. That is the most frustrating part of buying appliances these days.

I agree...when our kitchen was remodeled all the appliances were replaced.  The difference was noticeable that they were not built like the previous appliances.  That is why I'm doing so much research before investing in another refrigerator.  The cost has increased, but not the quality.  I'm doing my best to avoid obvious issues and know that an extended warranty will be necessary.

Our Samsung is not even two years old and the ice maker keeps freezing up and won't work. We have the French doors with the third drawer and freezer on the bottom.

Don't buy a Samsung.  My Samsung is a huge lemon.  Been serviced 6 times in the three years I have owned it.  Thank goodness I bought the long term warranty.

We just purchased a Kitchen Aide last November.  No problems.
