Suggestions for Bathroom Decorating

[ Edited ]

One of my Aunt and Uncles have moved into an apartment that has a handicapped  accessible

bathroom. They are not handicapped but these apts they moved into come with them since they are in a 55 an over complex now. They just met the age requirement this year.

They have no idea how to make it nice and I dont have any suggestions for them.   There is the walk in shower, which is ok and they did put up a shower curtain.

There are hand rails at the toilet, and a lower sink that has only a drawer and one cabinet.  Theres no room at all for a cabinet for storage.

I even tried looking online for some ideas but have not found a thing on decorating for them.

The whole apartment is accessible but only the bathroom was the place they didnt know how to decorate to look nice.

Re: Suggestions for Bathroom

Taking into account the shower vs tub, I would ignore the lower fixtures unless they are just too low, then replace the sink.  Just look at Bathrooms on line to get ideas for colors, accessories, etc.

It's still just a bathroom, hand grips are always handy.

I didnt think of that but its true, its just a bathroom. Thank you I will do that search.

New paint?  Pretty towels?  Maybe a pretty cabinet above the toilet?  In a few years they might appreciate the railings and other safety features.

Yes they dont mind the rails at all and dont mind the walk in shower.  Cant paint due to being an apt though.

Not sure what you want/ can do. Google bathrooms and you will see thousands of pictures. Start there.

Go to Walmart dot com and search decals. Called Peel & Stick. I have them in my laundry room, bedroom (roses and butterflies), on the glass shower doors in upstairs hall

bath.On the shower doors, I applied: Roommates Lisa Audit Butterfly Peel & Stick Decals.

Inexpensive -- and an easy way to brighten up a room - and make walls/tubs interesting.

That sounds nice, there are not shower doors just place for a curtain. They did put up the shower curtain.  But maybe some for the wall.

@FlowerBear  It depends on the size of the bathroom and the actual needs.  I have a smaller long bathroom but I did need a little extra storage.  I purchased a white bench with a beige cushion on top and underneath there is room for a rattan storage bin.  I keep my hair dryer and all my hair tools in it.  I sit on it when I apply my makeup.  If you need more storage consider a tall unit with open and closed storage.  I purchased mine at Pottery Barn.

Can they paint the bathroom?...I'm thinking not since it is an apartment but I just thought I would suggest this and they could speak with management about getting approval....Sometimes mgmt. will approve painting as long as it is painted back to original color if they should move in the future....worth a try to ask.

Does the bathroom have a window, as a pretty window treatment would also help....Also, pretty wall hangings....doesn't have to be pictures necessarily...can be many various wall decors.

Pretty color towels and a small vase with a flower(s) on the sink area.

Also, I was just thinking that they could put a decorative shelf over the toilet  or on the wall area and accessorize it with a plant or other items of their choice.

Oh, and also a couple of bath rugs in their favorite choice of color.

Woman HappyWishing them much happiness and good health in their new apartment!
