Suction Power

I have a Kenmore Intuition cannister vacuum that I have had for 2 years and it has no suction power anymore. I checked all the hoses and changed the bags and it will not suc* up a cookie crumb on the floor. I have hardwood floors in most of the house except kitchen (tile) and bedrooms (carpet). Can someone recommend me a good vacuum with lots of power? I would prefer to have a cannister over any upright. Thanks.
