I'm not a fan of high contrast rooms.

I like some of the elements in this room, but the hue of red is too strong on the eye and there is too much stripe since the book shelves create a stripe.

I do like the couches and the tulips.  The painting is rather bland.

I could live with striped chairs, but I'd prefer a different color. I'm not really a pink person. I'm not sure I'd ever paint the backs of shelves. I agree with @ECBG that the painting is bland. Maybe they didn't want it to compete with the bright pink?

Every eye is different.  "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder", lol!

I really don't like rooms with fireplaces and bookshelves, so everything about this room is a NO.

@RedTop Interesting that you say that, a I was just watching Love it or List It last night, and they added shelves on both sides of the fireplace to add storage and contrast......I never thought about it, but will probably pay more attention now!
