I cleaned out a closet and found an empty storage box, about 14x13 with a lid.  Any suggestions what I could store in it?  It's the canvas type.

I have two canvas storage boxes on my covered back porch.  In the summer, one houses bug spray and sunscreen and the other holds flip flops.

Extra Prescriptions, flash drive with important papers and family photos copied, change of underware, charged batteries for phone, space for a box of your best jewelry, some cash.

@Snoopp Last year I bought the Periea collapsible boxes from Q and have liked them a lot.

I first bought some square ones to pack away Christmas Decor more organized, rather than in all the bags I had things in up in my outdoor storage. They are great because you can see what's in them from top and sides as well as open them from both places, and they are stackable. Also very lightweight, even when full. So they worked for me.

I then bought another set, of varying sizes for some other organization projects I haven't gotten to yet. 

Not sure how you are looking to use the box you are replacing, and how the dimensions vary from the ones I'm suggesting, or if it'll work for you, but just giving my review of those boxes in case they interest you.

Sounds like that might be a great size for an emergency kit to keep in the trunk of your car (google has lists of what to include). Even if you don't drive often, it's better to be ready in case of trouble or if you see someone else that needs something,

Important things (ie family photos, cash, etc) should be kept in something fireproof.

You can use it as a leg/foot rest at the edge of your sofa.    You can fill it with magazines, books.....whatever you want to keep handy

Oh my gosh.  What a problem to have.  I could use about 50 of those babies.
