We got home from Pa a week ago, As we were leaving up north the stink bugs were getting pretty bad. I had vacuumed up many inside the camper. When we got home I put my MU in the drawer of my vanity and today I open it up to sort through and tidy up and lo and behold - 2 stink bugs. EEEWWWW. I grabbed a kleenex and got them and flushed them. They must have hitched a ride to the tropics in my MU bag. They can't surive in the heat here but we have brought some down with us almost every fall. One year I found one in the USB port on my computer.
Nasty things!

Early days of our Fl snowbirding, I slipped on my summer shoes and felt something weird--- like one of those packets for keeping shoes dry. But no, it was a dead water bug. Eeeewwwww....

@151949 NASTY THINGS!!!!! I hate stick bugs MORE than I spiders and that's pretty bad!!!
This morning while in the shower I'm in the final rinse stage facing the shower head, I turn around and WHAT??????!!!!!!!! an uninvited guest showering with me attempting to walk up the back wall until it slid down onto the floor. Dripping wet still with soap on me I threw open the curtain, stopped out, grabbed a couple of tissues, nailed it, squished it, FLUSHED it!!!!!! I couldn't believe it!!!!
So I finished up then went on the hunt for more as they apparently come in through the bathrm window and like to hang on the curtains. SURE ENOUGH - ANOTHER ONE!!!!!! Grabbed a couple of tissues, nailed it, squished it, FLUSHED it!!!
I HATE these things and oh, tis the season! They also seem to hang in our master bdroom. I am ALWAYS on the hunt, I HAVE to be!
NASTY THINGS!!!!! EEEEEWWWWWW!!!!

Heard about them but I have never seen one thank goodness. Even in Florida. They say I will know when I have had one hit the car, etc

I guess this is how they spread across the country - in the luggage and cars of travelers. They started in Allentown, PA, and have been radiating outward ever since.

They naturally come from Asia so I think they came in with products from there.

Anyone who lives somewhere that doesn't have them , be thankful. They are called STINK bugs for a reason.
I never squish them, just pick up with a kleenex and flush.

Never squish a stink bug: the smell is horrible, hence "stink".
For several years I had our pest company treat the outside of our home for these critters in Sept-Oct: 2 treatments for approx. $225. The count during the winter months did go down---yes, I kept track daily to defer mine the effectiveness of the treatment.
However, last year I could count on two hands the total number appearing inside---they enter via the roof and travel down the windows. They hang out where there is light, daylight or lamplight. The difference in the extremely low count: New next door neighbor had the needle thin, very tall evergreen trees taken out. Wonderful neighbor !!!!!

Fortunately we don't see them during the summer up north, they don't appear until it starts to get cool outside. They don't seem to be able to survive in the tropical heat which I am grateful for as almost all the ones we find after we return to fl. - who no doubt hitched a ride here - are dead. Florida has enough disgusting creatures already.
