@faeriemoon   Your's is beautiful.  That's the look I would go for also.

Did some reading up and am happy to see that is can be heated which is one of our biggest concerns.  Will be for a room over an unheated garage.

I wish I had planned for our hardwoods to be heated, but mentioned it too late to the contractor after all the hardwood had been delivered.

I have still not decided on flooring for main floor - wall to wall carpet, wood or luxury vinyl.  I have LV in kitchen and like but the idea of replacing all door frames because of height difference is a deterrant.  I hesitate on wood because that calls for area rugs. I am concerned about tripping hazzards.  I like the idea of not having traffic patterns on carpet.  I don't get on floor to play with kids as much but do occasionally.  I have family room, dining room and office to work with.

Any updates on thoughts if your experience s? TIA

@Twins Mom   I have real hardwood flooring throughout the house, but the living and dining room floors have to be replaced due to water damage.  I will put hardwood down, but a room is cozier if there is some type of carpeting, area rug is what I will choose, already using one in the dining room, but the living room is wall-to-wall carpeting.  I hope to get this done within a year or two.

@Lucky Charm Heating it over the garage will be nice.

@faeriemoon  Pretty!  Is yours tile, vinyl, wood or what? Love the rustic look.

Friends of ours put in flooring called "Life Proof."  It looks like wood, but I don't think it is wood.  It is really pretty and I don't think much can harm it.

We had engineered wood put in our den - never again.  We have been so careful in there, yet there are scratches and a few dents.  Plus if a window leaks or something spills, it gets ruined.

I tend to like wall to wall carpet.  It is less expensive, cuts down on noise, and comfortable to walk and sit on.

Good luck with your decision.

We had Coretec LVP installed in our entire downstairs about a month ago and love it. We had hardwood prior to it but due to a flood in the kitchen from the dishwasher, the entire downstairs had to be replaced. The LVP was not inexpensive and rivaled some hardwood estimates we had. The gap at the door frames was a concern but the contractor had someone who installs the LVP all the time and knows how to fill in the small gap with wood shims, paint to match the frame, and you can't even tell there was ever a difference. Love the LVP; spills are a breeze to clean up and I can use my Swiffer on it and it is super easy to clean.
