I could get up but coming down I'd appreciate if someone would punch in a fireman's pole behind those stairs.  Faster, safer.

I have open back stairs in my house.  The fact that it does not have a hand rail is what bothers me.

A simple metal rail or two,  like used In the upstairs space would of worked well here,

 

Looks nice -clean, just totally impractical and dangerous. 🤕

I like the simplistic look but I absolutely need a handrail.  Carole Radziwell has stairs similar to these in her apartment except she does have a handrail against the wall.

Don't think it would pass a building inspection. Why not add a handrail for safety?

Definitely fatalistic. I would always be scared of climbing these. I guess it would have been better if had railing support or the wall on at least one side.
