Speaking of decluttering… - Page 3

Decluttering is not an easy task. I love to declutter but DH is a pack rat. I have literally gotten rid of stuff when he is not around, I know it seems mean but never once has he missed anything! He's one of those "might need that someday" people and when we downsized I was a declutter maniac...........there were things in the basement that he totally forgot about and hadn't used in the 15 years we were there. If you haven't needed it in 15 years, chance are you never will.

When you've made the decision to declutter, you have to deal with it right then and there. You can't let it linger or you'll never get rid of it. Some items you may be on the fence about and not ready to make a decision about. They may be sentimental or it may not be the right time to get rid of it. Put it to the side and come back to it. But you can't do that with everything lol

@Natureluvr Update to picking up (7) 44qt covered storage tubs I'm going back for more tomorrow lol. They are really nice and 6.99 is a good price.

Finally motivated to get some of this excess clutter out of here - you couldn't tell being in my house but it's in the hidden areas, garage, one closet etc.

How is your decluttering going? It helps to have support

@rockygems123 I’ve been able to get rid of a few things but am still “shifting” some stuff. Ugh! I’m going to keep at it, though.

Hints: When a box of something comes in, use the box and packing to pack up something for donation or the trash. Right then. Put something in the box and tape it up, write on the lid trash or donate.

Pack a box or bag every week to swing by a donation site when you go shopping. Every week or every other week.

Time now to go through summer clothes. Put a bag or box in the closet and discard as you switch.

@ManyMeows - I watch her videos. And I saw the videos with the QVC haul. As you said, it is very sobering.

As for the stash that the you tuber has in her warehouse, all in the name of reselling, it gives me anxiety. I feel like it's hoarding. Some of the stuff she buys at yard sales and estate sales is ridiculous.

My sister-in-laws sister sells second hand stuff on-line. She buys from estates and yard sales, auctions, Facebook Marketplace, Good Will and other thrift stores.

She only works part time and makes at least $80,000 a year and sometimes up to $100,000 or more.

She specializes in costume jewelry. There is a big market for vintage costume jewelry.

You can make a lot of money selling second hand stuff.

@Carmie Is that what she says she makes? Also, you spend an awful lot of time shopping, selling, packing, keeping track of, hauling junk around, paying for storage, etc. etc. Plus you have to have a lot invested in stuff that doesn't sell, packing and shipping.
