Re: Speaking of Staircases and Blues

I can not imagine how long and how much work it took to place and put up the wallpaper. They had to take into account the space that they were dealing with and the design AND whether the scene "flowed".

And having to deal with doorways, staircase and cut out. The wallpaper wasn't a pattern they could just order from their local paint store. So you know they didn't have lots of rolls in case they made a mistake.

I would like to know how they were able to do it and meet the owner's approval.

Re: Speaking of Staircases and Blues

Too much going on.

The staircase itself is beautiful!

I'd like to see it with solid color painted walls (pale sage?)

I like the 2 doorways, 2 doors, & the chandelier.

But, I think I'd like the floor to be a plain wood without a pattern in a rather dark color along with the steps on the stairway.

I agree it is beautiful but without the mural.  My knees hurt looking at those stairs though. It would take me a day to go up them!

I really like the wall covering/mural/whatever it is.

And the ginger jar.

Not wild about the staircase, the fabric covering the steps is awful--looks commercial grade.

Very dramatic.  I guess it is fine if one is comfortable living in an ostentatious house.

Not my style at all.  I do not care for the mural at all.

It looks a little mish mash to me.  Notwithstanding the hideous mural, the runner seems out of place, and the parquet floor pattern is too casual for the drama of the staircase.

There isn't a single thing I like about it.  I don't want to live in a museum.

Nothing about this appeals to me.  I like homes that are described by words like quality, simple, basic, plain, sturdy, functional, long lasting, comfortable, family friendly, etc.
