I'm not certain, but from looking at the photo, I think the bed is only partway down.  It would make sense that it would come all the way down to the ground and actually cover the living room area. The room would be in Bedroom mode.

Then, when you want Living room space, the bed platform would move all the way up into the ceiling area (see the tracks on the wall?). It would be enclosed in the ceiling. The living room area would have a normal head space, but a sunken lounging area. Great if you have limited space.

This would make sense to me. It's not for everyone, but kind of ingenious in design.

@PinkMomi   I did some research as I was curious.  You are correct.  Bedroom slides up & down.  The bottom of the bedroom is actually a lighted ceiling for the living room.

Would you do this if your space was very limited?

It’s a definite no for me. I would be scared the bed would come down and squash me. I don’t want to step down into a seating area either.

@wilma    I could never live in that arrangement.  Looks like it should be inside a UFO.

@Mz iMac

The bed lowers for sleeping. It covers the sitting area below when you are in it.

That bed could be dangerous if you're a sleepwalker.

@aubnwa01

The bed is lowered for sleeping. It comes down all the way to the floor.

You are correct. Thanks for explaining. I thought it was obvious but I guess not. I edited my original post to explain this fact.
