I need to find something other than decals or strips, to put down in a shower for a relative. She is afraid of falling. She does have safety bars in there (two) but the flooring is pretty slick when soap and shampoo are on it.

Have you addressed this problem with a shower for an elderly person and what is the answer? Thanks for any tips I appreciate it.

Re: Slip resistant shower help

What about getting a shower chair, like this one, from Walgreen's?

AquaSense Adjustable Bath & Shower Chair with Non-Slip Seat White

Then have a towel nearby so she can dry off her feet/floor before exiting the shower?

Non-skid shoes might work, too. These are from Easy Comforts.

Re: Slip resistant shower help

do you mean a shower stall....or a shower in the bathtub....go to the supermarket or anyone of the mart stores and buy a rubber mat....they come in many lengths...get the longest one...then she can walk back and forth in the tub...while she is showering...

I have been using them for years...they aren't much money...but so super safe...

Check out item # V32271 Aqua rug -- a shower mat that was just on one of this morning's shows.

I have knee/back issues and have always been cautious in the shower!! I have these mats on my wish list, but am still debating.

Re: Slip resistant shower help

IIRC, a few weeks ago I read reviews of the Aqua rug on Amazon, and there were many complaints about how slippery it is. The are only four suction ciups on the bottom and they don' t keep it on place. I use a rubber bathmat purhased at BBB, and it does the trick. It has a great grip, I've never come close to slipping.

I had my shower floor redone in non-slip tiles from Lowes. It costs very little and is so much safer. I tried everything and nothing worked.

Re: Slip resistant shower help

There is a spray that can be sprayed on permanently to make it not slippery. Some installers do that. Check with your local home improvement store, like Lowes.
