Ten years ago I bought a Deluxe Pillowtop full size Sleep Number Bed. It was expensive, but it had a 20 year warranty. After I got it, it wasn't difficult to put together, but it took me 2 afternoons because the box with the mattress didn't come with the rest of the bed. That came the next day. I like my Sleep Number bed, but I've run into a couple of problems. About 2 years ago the display on the remote quit working. You couldn't read the numbers on it at all. I called the number that QVC gave me, and they said they would ship out a new pump. I asked why I needed a pump and they said my bed had a wired remote and they now longer used that. I would have to replace the pump because my remote was wired to it. They sent me a new pump and remote. It cost me $100.00. Now the memory foam that goes between the air bladder and the pillowtop has gone bad. I called them again and they will ship me a new memory foam. That will cost me $50.00. My question is what does the warranty cover? I have had to pay for the replacement parts, yet I'm still covered by the warranty. Or at least that's what they tell me. It just doesn't pay for anything.

I have a Sleep Number bed that I bought in 2003 for $1.500 and I love it. It has the same kind of remote you are describing. I think you are paying a fraction of the actual cost for your items – sort of like a nominal co-pay at the doctor’s office. I wanted to replace the mattress pad cover and it now costs nearly what I paid for the entire bed back when I bought it in 2003. Even though you are paying something for these items, the fact that you have the warranty is saving you the majority of the replacement cost for each item.

If you did not get any warranty paperwork w/your bed, your question should be addressed directly to QVC and/or directly w/the manufacturer. Have them mail you a copy while you're at it.
It's not clear from your posting if you have 2 warrranties. One from Q & one from the manufacturer.

The warranty is from Sleep Number. QVC only had the 30 day return policy. Sleep Number has the 20 year warranty. I did check to see what it would cost to replace the pillowtop as somehow it has gotten torn on the underside. How that could happen I'm not sure. It's not torn on the outside. The cover would cost an additional $350.00. I decided not to get that. They claim when they show the beds on QVC that they beds they tested looked brand new after 20 years. I don't see how that is possible. The number I called is the number that QVC gave me for Sleep Number. It's a special number for people that buy the Sleep Number bed from the Q.

My elderly mother has a Sleep Number bed on the adjustable base. OMG we'll never have another! We've replaced all the interior foam borderwalls - even under warranty (and it's pro-rated) we had to pay about $130. Then, I've had to submit measurements to the SN folks to determine whether the cover has stretched -- a mysterious divot keeps appearing but the measurements indicate the cover hasn't stretched. If we were to replace the cover it would be $750! She has her firmness set at 95 and it's still as squishy as can be. Pretty expensive air mattress -- I think a basic AeroBed is more comfortable!!!!

When they sell the beds on QVC, they say what a wonderful warranty it has. They never once say the warranty is pro-rated. It's never mentioned until after you are ordering a replacement part.

I guess I'm lucky. We've had 2 in 20 years. The only problem I've had was the black mold. Ick. I didn't buy mine from QVC. I'm always suspicious of the quality of the made for QVC items. And the store gives a big discount if you are in the medical field!

@LonestarBabs Thanks so much for providing the correct terminology “pro-prated”.
I am at that stage in life where I know what I mean but I just can’t always find the right word in my brain any longer. I can talk all around it, but the exact word remains elusive. I had one of those moments in my previous post…I just could not come up with the correct wording.
After I thought about it, I think it makes sense that a company cannot replace the parts for no cost for a period of twenty years. If that were true, many people would just start claiming a problem with various parts in years 15 and later. By the time the warranty ran out, they could potentially have a whole new bed totally free. No company can do that! And this item is comprised totally of just parts – there is no one large main piece – it is all just components – that is why it goes together easily and that is why parts can be replaced easily (although not inexpensively).
Here is the complete information on how the Sleep Number Bed warranty is calculated: https://www.sleepnumber.com/sn/en/warranty

@Havarti Mom's bed is only about 5-6 years old so even with a pro-rated warranty it's irritating to start replacing parts with out-of-pocket costs. We've been having problems with the bed for a few years now. Thus, never again. It's a glorified air mattress in a foam box. Lots of hype.

I've listened to the sales pitch many times over the years. They went from saying the warranty was for 20 years to 25 years, but not once did the vendor or the host say it was pro-rated. I'll go back to my aero bed the next time I need parts. Those beds aren't worth the high cost if the warranty is pro-rated.
