Re: Slatkins candles

[ Edited ]

I like Harry's 3 wick candles they are larger and about the same price as Bath & Body Works.......

With Harry's candles there are no drowning wicks either, and the burn time was much better too.....

I tried some of those "big box store" candles and there was no scent but boy there was a lot soot---never again!

I always love when Harry is on!  Yes, he is enthusiastic about his products (as he should be!) and enjoys talking about his Hamptons life, but that's all part of his charm.

Of course you are entitled to your opinion, but you are lucky in that you don't have to watch or purchase his products.  My personal opinion is that he does offer superior products.  There are definitely hits and a few misses, but he has a solid quality product for the most part.  That's why so many people enjoy watching him.

When he came back on during the fall and holiday seasons, some of his reviews were very negative and people complained that his products weren't the same as they used to be.  I find it very telling of him as a person that he literally went back to the drawing board on his candles/scents and put forth an improved product (this spring) based on customer reviews.  He didn't have the attitude that the customer was wrong and he was right.  He cares about his customer base, his reputation, and about selling quality products.  That is reason enough for me to purchase his brand.

We have to endure Slatkin parading his overpriced candles on Q2 tonight, citronella candles too .... I DESPISE the smell of citronella. Can't stand it. Smells medicinal to me, not a fragrance that I want to smell outside while relaxing.  I'm sure he will be self promoting his famous "nose" and affluent Hampton lifestyle while selling the candles and rambling about notes and powering up. It's a huge swing and a miss for me. I won't be buying. I get my candles much cheaper at the Big Box stores.

Candles, especially scented candles, are hazardous to your health. The smoke combined with the chemicals are potentially toxic and carcinogenic.

I refuse to light candles manufactured in China, Thailand etc due to concerns over toxic fumes. The Chinese are notorious for using lead. Even in food products!!
