I also agree with the poster who said she enjoys having the fridge and cupboards full. When I was a child my parents constantly struggled to keep food on the table so it is utter joy to always have enough to easily make us nice meals.

Slas...I am the same as you love a clean tidy house and married to a slob...LOL He can put whatever he wants in the garage as long as the car still fits in it.

I LOVE hanging bedding, rugs and sheers on the line!! Smells wonderful when you bring everything back in.

I like a pot of soup simmering on the stove during the cold days of winter.

@NataliesgrammaAnd anything fresh baked coming out the the oven, helping to warm a cold house.

We'll just have to start a club. My husband has a small barn on our property, and you'd think the hoarders show would run the other way if they saw the inside.

Funny, as he has never been that way about the house (probably because I'd kill him....literally), but don't go near his 'shop'. I attribute it to him growing up very poor, and they had nothing, less than nothing most times. And they held on to anything they got, no matter how bad it was. Some things just never leave a person I guess.

Re: Simple homemaking pleasures

I love Saturdays in fall the most. House has been cleaned, the windows are open and my DH is watching college football. I'll sometimes watch TV with him or I'll go in the sunroom to read. Then we'll have some comfort food that has been cooking in the crock pot. I'm looking forward to the heat and humidity exiting the state so that the crisp autumn weather can move in.

There are 2 things to which I can really apply myself.  One is an everyday chore and one a project:

1. I need surfaces to be clean.  To that end, I am the "Windex Lady."  Give me Windex and papertowels and I'm off to the races, cleaning down my kitchen and bathroms like nobody's business.

2.  This involves painting.  Believe it or not, I enjoy painting walls, so am looking forward to painting our new condo in the next month.  I've saved us a ton of $$$ over the years doing all of the interior painting, which included re-doing our entire kitchen.

We used to go to a restaurant where the owners wife would run around spraying all the tables with windex and wiping them with paper towels. My DH called her the spritzer.

Re: Simple homemaking pleasures

I like balancing house work with cooking- think a pot of homemade soup, some crusty bread, and a dessert, maybe apple or pumpkin bars in the fall.   I love buying new sheets in the spring- there is nothing like fresh sheets on a bed.  I like putting on good music and digging into "projects" - cleaning/wiping out  the fridge, cleaning out the closet.  I like washing out and using new Lock and Lock or Green containers.  This is a great thread!

Re: Simple homemaking pleasures

I agree with everything everyone has already mentioned.  Thanks, MominOhio, for starting this thread.

I could list at least 100 things, but I'll list the first three that come to mind:

~ towels fresh from the dryer

~ clothes blowing in the breeze on a clothesline

~ a cup of coffee and a cookie in the quiet afternoon (rarely happens, but when it does it's heaven)

~ house cat ~

Re: Simple homemaking pleasures

I can think of many things but the top of my list is:

1.  smell of a fresh clean house. Nothing makes me feel better than to walk in my home and it looks fresh & clean.

2.  If it ever stops raining, awful heat and humidity leave -- opening the windows and a fresh crisp day!

3. My fresh ironed clothes -- love to iron ( I know I'm probably nutty!)

have a a good weekend everyone and thanks for all these great comments!

Laundry is a favorite of mine as well. And HC, a cookie and coffee sounds great!

@sfnative, If you're ever in SE Mo, look me up. I'll cook and clean and I'll let you paint.  LOL  You sound like an all around do it yourselfer.  I know your home will be beautiful.

Having a pretty tablecloth on the table and setting the table every night with pretty dishes.
