Looks more like a used bookstore rather than a home..I wouldn't want to use a ladder....Maybe its time to DONATE, DONATE, DONATE some of those books...

I love te shelves in the second picture.  I might even have enough books to fill the shelves.

The shelving in the first picture is just ugly.  The second picture is slightly more attractive.  I think if you are going to have floor to ceiling bookshelves they need to be architecturally appealing.  Neither of these examples is appealing to me.

I can find walls of shelves very attractive, but these both more resemble library stacks... To me, the shelves themselves have to offer some appeal and there needs to be a mixture of books and objects on the shelves for them to serve a decorative as well as a functional purpose. I'd also add that both of these sets of shelves are a bit overwhelming. The second is somewhat tolerable, but the first is particularly unappealing.

Dinaki, that's what I love about the shelves--they remind me of a library!

(And for those of you concerned about dusting--I rarely dust.)

The 2nd pic is more attractive than the 1st but still a hard NO for me.

Too many shelves, too many books, too much clutter, too much dust, the ladder is a no way, just no.
