Sharing my dream house

[ Edited ]

Built by me and DH over a 4 year period.  We moved in the summer of 1990.  I touched every inch of the the place except the roof and chimneys.  I could not bring myself to get up that high.

We did not put wreaths up this year, so this is from a holiday snow a few years back.

I'm hoping to decorate next year.

I have joked saying I will never leave (ashes to be spread in the woods near the house), and that I'll become like the woman in Beetlejuice when/if anyone else ever moves in.  Cat LOL

I love it. Looks like a small castle.

Your home is absolutely beautiful!  It is an unusual design, which I appreciate.  And in a wooded area, where you are surrounded by nature.  I am sure you worked very hard to attain your dream.  Merry Cnristmas!

@Witchy Woman

What a special, unique home!  Thank you for sharing.

DH & I built ours in 2000, I stained the hardwood floors, white oak, hand rubbed, everywhere except, baths, kitchen and laundry. Yep, touched every sq. Inch & love it.

Second story balcony  - 👍 !!!

@Drythe

At the time, that was to be the "smoking" balcony, but DH finally quit at 41.

While we don't often sit out there, I still like the way it looks.

@RetRN

We did work very hard and were much younger at the time.

I could never do it again.  Had NO IDEA what I was getting into.

DH is a builder and brick mason.  He suggested we build a Ranch style house and I had seen brick Victorians in Edenton, NC and Washington, DC.

So, I said, well, let's try one of those Cat LOL  What did I know?

Like I said 4 years of hard work, but I am thankful every day.

@JYWilliams

It's actually not all that big inside (under 2,000 square feet on 3 floors).

But, plenty big for the 2 of us Cat Happy
