Re: Sharing my dream house

[ Edited ]

My husband is not a bricklayer, so we built our dream home using wood.

@Witchy Woman   What a beautiful home.  Nice that you have been able to accomplish your dream and live in it happily for so many years.

If I owned it I would not want to "leave" either.

Thank you for sharing.  Your husband's loving. workmanship is evident.

Don't understand the person not believing that this is your home; if I recall correctly you ran it as a Bed and Breakfast at one point.

@roster

Wowza!

That is one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen!

I love the peaks on the witches cap over the windows.  Truly a work of art!

I originally wanted a "painted lady" Victorian, but DH just looked at me like I was crazy.  Told me it was too much upkeep and, after all, he was a bricklayer.

So, I gave in.  Happy I did, but your house is truly magical.

Did you buy the house plans, or did someone design it for you?

Just curious....we used a company called "Historical Replications" for our designs, and DH added his own touches.

Love the colors, too!  And the landscaping is perfection!

@aroc3435

You have a good memory!

Yes, it's actually two homes.  The "little house" is the one we built for my now deceased parents (you can see it alongside the "big house)".

That's the cottage that we rent out as a B&B....but no business this year.  In fact, I'm not sure when we will accept guests again...some time late in 2021.

As to not believing me...oh well Cat Happy

I'm kind of an open book about things, but try to post judiciously.  I didn't want to come off as "bragging"  but I just felt like I wanted to share my happiness.

We gave everything to build this place...neither of us wealthy, but every cent poured into it.  We don't travel, don't gamble, don't buy new cars, so our house is everything.  I worked for 38 years to pay for it!

I get that not everyone feels that way, so not everyone needs a dream home.

In my old age, I'll probably end up in a one bedroom apartment Cat LOL

@roster Is that what you did - cut and paste the picture you said was your home?  If not, I guess I don't get the point of your post.

What a beautiful home. I wish you continued health and happiness in it. I can understand never wanting to leave it. I feel the same way about our home. I can appreciate the hard work you and your husband put into it. Keep enjoying it.
