I love it!

If I lived alone, my entire house would be in this style.  I guess women are more likely to appreciate it than men - my husband made it clear that it wasn't his thing, so we compromised and modified it a bit.

It's nice that some folks love this  - it uses pieces others who aren't into it would not even look at. I notice that in all the pictures none of them are using old worn out linens etc but when I have seen this look IRL I see fabrics that are fraying and worn and stained.Pillows etc that have all seen better days. It reminds me of how we lived in our first apartments when everything was hand me down.

This is just one example of a shabby chic living room; distressed items, mixed with lots of white orcream. I think it looks very pretty, but is impractical. Would be hard to live with, imo.

I wouldn't call this shabby chic though.  This is basically what my family room looks like - I have accented with blue.

Re: Shabby Chic

Interesting pictures posted above.  To me, white furniture does not necessarily conotate shabby chic.  When I think shabby chic I think literally shabby with furniture painted, refurbished and maybe repurposed with soft shades of pink and green as shown in the pictures below.  While I think it can be charming, it has to "fit" with the style of one's home.  To me it would be perfect for a little white cottage by the lake with lots of wild flowers.

@magicmoodz,You're right.  I taught Interior Design.  Quite a bit of photos have white probably because so much French and French provential are used.
