Mominohio, you are speaking of hgtv original programming. It would be nice.

I was wondering though, if there are any shows where someone goes in, and works strictly with what people already have.
I think a great program would be where a decorator goes in, looks at what people already have in their homes (and closets and basements, and attics) and works with what is there to show how to change and improve a place without spending any money, or say have a really small budget, like a couple of hundred dollars, to compliment what is already there (thinking taking current furniture, and paint it, or take simple supplies like stencils to enhance something, etc.)
I know I do this with my house. Rearrange the furniture, move the decor items, etc. around, bring in nothing new, just change up what I have.
Maybe I'm crazy, but I think that would be a fun show.
YES, some years ago there was a show called "Free Style" where they used what the people already had that were in other rooms, the basement, stored in closets, the attic, etc. But there weren't many episodes, unfortunately.
I, too, am so bored with the remodeling shows and wish they'd get back to decorating. One of my favorites was "Decorating Cents" where they spent $500.00 or less, and sometimes at the very end of the show they had a segment where all they did was rearrange the furniture. Fun to watch.
Also, each episode of "Decorating Cents" featured a different Interior Designer, and Nate Berkus' mother was on it several times. Wish they'd make more episodes.

I always wondered why the people in theose shows didn't clear/clean up their home a little bit in the "before pictures". Alot looked like slobs....

@Mominohio Sounds a little bit like the show "Trading spaces". I used to love that show, wish it would come back. Sadly HGTV shows aren't what they used to be. There were quite a few designers that had shows on there that I used to love.

@ANewHue What was the name of the show that had a man and a woman doing the show? He would build shelves, etc and she would do the curtains and decor. I cannot remember their names but it was just simple and inexpensive makeovers. I liked to watch them. Anyone know who I'm thinking about?

@lucymo. I remember the show you're mentioning but I can't think of the name. Sorry.

Was is called Design on a Dime?
03-24-2016 08:44 PM
OK, it was Room By Room with Matt & Shari. It was one of the first shows of that type on HGTV and ran for 14 years. I loved it because it wasn't out of this world renovations, just something we could possibly do ourselves without a lot of money.

I loved watching Room by Room! Design on a Dime was the one where the host took things and fixed up the room on a shoestring budget.
Now, all of them have a 200K budget and it is never enough!
Those were two of my fave HGTV shows. I wish more were like them now.

@flickerbulb I agree and I also liked Design on a Dime. Those shows were so realistic that we could take the ideas and do some changes without taking out a bank loan. I just Googled old HGTV shows and a lot of them came back to me when I saw them listed. I watched a lot of HGTV back then, not so much now. I like a lot of the homes that they renovate but just so expensive that I can't relate. I like my home and just need to paint and move things around and it will be new to me. :-)
