What do you think of the fireplace is this room?

I think it takes up too much wall space. That side of the room looks heavy to me. I think the room would be more balanced if it weren't so big. I also think the opening looks too small compared to the size of the entire fireplace. Probably very expensive and a quite a project to change its scale though.

I like the colors, furnishings, and most of the accessories in the room. A bit too "matchy matchy" and symmetrical with the chairs and pillows. If there's a TV in the armoire that's not going to be good for viewing.

It's a nice looking room and the fireplace is appealing but agree, the firebox seems too small for that large surround.

Agree the fireplace appears to take up too much real estate, but I wonder if there's a little distortion in that photo, too. If you look at the set of doors on the left side, they don't seem perfectly straight compared to the other set.

This could be a very nice room, but it looks like you'd stub your toe on something trying to walk through it. And, for some reason, it doesn't seem welcoming to me. Even if it was a cool day, with a fire going and a brandy in my hand.

I think there's some distortion going on in the photo.

The fireplace is fine but I do not care for the furnishings or wall color.  The room needs to be spruced up with some color and decor.

I agree about the fireplace and also because its off white which makes it look even bigger.

It is a nice room, nice colors.

@wilma  For me there is just too much furniture in this room.  I would have to remove some and then look at it again.  S

The designer here made a statement with the surround of the fireplace which is light compared to the darker surroundings.  The artwork which we can't see may be special.

Apparently,  this is a living room judging from the formality or a den in a possibly million dollar house.

The "matchy matchy" is usually "Formal" placement.

It is still a very nice looking room.

The decor is more bothersome to me. Not liking any of the tons of pillows.

I counted nine. I like the plants but there are so many.

I like it.  I would remove the love seat in front of the French Doors to provide a little open space.  A few tweaks and I would be perfectly comfortable.
