Only just stumbled across these;  probably every one else has known about them forever, ha.  So competitively priced!

"Floral Bamboo" is the scent I started with.  Heady, grassy scent that is pervasive and summery, w/out being overpowering.

I must sheepishly admit I partly got them for the chunky glass jars they came in.  Apparently Sand and Fog pours some of their candles in these diamond-patterned, open, molded glass jars.  They look modern but the diamond pattern gives them substance.  Mine are a translucent, milky glass color-- they have other luscious colors like aqua and purple.

I'm always looking for jars, I can later use to put oversize tea lights in, that aren't too cutesy or generically boring.

What do you like to put tea lights in?

@Oznell

What kind of wax is used for these candles, please?

@butterfly123,  one site that I found (but for a different type of "Sand + Fog" candle, in a different type of jar,) gave the wax content as 90% paraffin, 10% "vegetable".  Too bad it isn't soy.  Although I have found mine to burn clean, with no soot issues.

When I was looking, I found this fun review:

The reviewers loved the visuals, and the diamond patterned jar, but thiinks the "throw" on her lavendar vanilla wasn't great.  I found the throw to be really nice on my floral bamboo, very noticeable but not obnoxious, especially once it has been burning awhile and formed a "pool".

The amusing thing about the review is, she is obviously a QVC shopper-- she has the same pedestal bowl and hobnail glass candle that Jill offers, and that I have!

@Oznell I love candles..that was a nice video too....... I have a recorded video of my candles which I put on my mothers legacy page...but tho the candle is lovely, the sound has way too much noise.... the price is great on these. Thanks for sharing.

Agreed, @cbrite--  candles are endlessly fascinating.....nice idea that you made a video of them.  They add "atmosphere" to everything!

What makes them special, @Oznell and @cbrite ?

I don't think I've ever seen these sold where I am - or maybe I just haven't noticed.

When you said "Sand and Fog" I was picturing something beachy with an exterior that looks like sand.  (Wouldn't that be great for a home on the beach, or even one with a beach theme?)

Kind of like this - my imagination takes over.  I know they look completely different.

I'm not sure why they took my fancy, @GingerPeach.  I was cruising our Marshalls, and there they were for just $6.99.

The company is "Sand + Fog" because they are supposedly "inspired by the California coast".  (But poured in Vietnam, ha.)   This "floral bamboo" scent is somewhat similar to the Slatkin ones you and I have, and I've come to like that clean, but sort of potent, grassy summer smell.

Not all Sand + Fog candles come in these diamond patterned translucent glass jars, but I'm sure that's what pushed me over the brink!   As you know, I am susceptible to candle containers.   AND, I love textured glass, that still reads sort of "modern", and these do.  I've already burned them down completely, washed them, and am using as holders for tea lights!

They had horrible glue anchoring the wicks--- couldn't get it all out, even with boiling water.  So there are little daubs of rock hard glue in the bottom, but the tea lights at least sit straight in the jars....

Thanks, @Oznell

Next time I'm in a Marshalls or similar store, I will make it a point to stop by the candle aisle.  (I do admit I tend to skip that part of the store as I have little room for more candles.)  But you're right, we do seem to enjoy similar fragrances - at least in that one "arena."

Maybe today . . .  I have errands to run.
