Safer Functional Bathrooms Need Not Be Ugly

Independent Living bathroom for elderly

It's very hard to find a "pretty" bathroom for seniors or handicapped people.  I finally found one.

@Mominohio

Me, too!  I had my first grab bar put into the wall by my tub. To be honest it makes me feel a little old.  While I am 70, I don't feel old.  I think 90 is the new old!  Anyway, I find it very hard to find pictures of bathrooms with safety measures that don't look like they belong in a hospital. This one does it for me!

I like it except the sink.  I think it should be much larger.......more counter space to hang on to.  I don't understand the hype about pedestal, etc sinks.  Where do you put stuff?

This is a beautiful , yet functional bathroom....I just would like storage under the sink as well, but it really works! The colors are so soft and it just looks so relaxing!

I love that bathroom and the older I get I realize the more necessary some of these things are.  We have room in our bathroom for something like this but it would be expensive.  Thanks for showing the picture

Very nice!  But I would definitely change the sink to include counter space.  And that large glass vase of flowers on the table would disappear....I don't ever put decorative glass objects in the bathroom, as it would be an accident waiting to happen for me!

The mirrowed medicine cabinet should be lower for those in a wheelchair.

The material on the chair should be waterproof.

The bathroom is beautiful otherwise.

I agree - that's a very nice room.

My feeling regarding bathrooms, kitchens and laundry rooms, is that they are utility rooms and should contain what's needed - that's it.

In the bathroom, I need a toilet, tub and sink, a cabinet for my "stuff' and a couple of towel racks.

The least amount of space that I have to keep clean, the better I like it.
