Re: Safari African themed room

@Oh I guess I was picturing a deep turquoise/teal color but adding orange to those and or dark chocooate brown would be nice or red and dark brown. You could pretty much do any colors.

(And I do really like the zebra in the top one)

So much fun to decorate along with youSmiley Happy!

I like the rug, looks nice and cushy too.  Looks like it has green as an accent color near the corners, and the lion (top two pictures) has some green in it also.

Re: Safari African themed room

I definitely like the top two, especially the lion.  Be very care when doing a theme room.  It can quickly be over-done and becomes too cutesy.  I have a Southwest sort of home but I have many things that are "themed neutral" because I don't want the place to look like a souvenir shop.  The accessories that I do use like Navajo rugs, pottery, paintings, etc. are authentic and not touristy.

Just my obsvervation...is your bedroom big? I'm seeing that this jungle theme is really going to look very busy! Every piece you are showing is a very busy piece on its own, not including that its going to all be in a small bedroom. I like the top pictures.

@ccassaday

The pictures on top are "statement pieces" all on their own. They will "own" the room.

The softer focus ones on the bottom are also statements, but are more of a dreamy feeling.

When taking a rug into consideration, I would go with a solid, not a print, as a companion to those pictures.

The black cabinetry sounds great. As accents, the top pictures suggest brighter accent colors (a few). The bottom pictures, IMO, suggest uses of variants of creams/grays/beiges/Browns/greens?

Top prnits! The bottom ones are more suited to a nursery with some type of  safari theme

I also agree that a neutral rug ( jute, seagrass,or some woven material) might be less busy.  But I'm no decorator, lol.

Enjoy your themed room and I hope you post pics as the room takes shape.

Opinions. Which do you like better. The prints on top are a set and the ones on the bottom are a set.image.jpeg

@ccassaday, Which ones do you like best? I would go by your gut feeling on this decision if I were you.

There was a time when I would have been more drawn to the bottom pics because of their serene nature, but at the moment I am drawn to the top two because they are more unique and interesting to me.

Good luck with your room.  I like the rug you have shown.  I think it's very pretty.  :-)

Re: Safari African themed room

Thanks everyone. Great suggestions. I have got a lot out of your posts. I don't have to make a decision for a long time. I am starting to lean towards a solid rug.

I would have to look at our plans but I think my room is 14x13. I could very easy go overboard which I don't want to do.

Re: Safari African themed room

image.jpegI found these Seagrams rugs. The one with the green could look good with the top two pictures.
