As a child, I loved Tudor-style houses, maybe because they seemed attached to a world of make-believe?  Here's an historic 1904 Tudor example in Salt Lake City that has gotten a really socko renovation.

Developers were going to get rid of it if they got ahold of it, but luckily an advertizing guy decided he wanted it as a family home for himself and two children. He seems to have appropriately "baronial" taste.  It might be more ornate and formal than I'd want to live, but I bet the presence of kids here will keep it lively and to "human scale":

This living room is flooded with light, thanks to those charming gothic style windows:

This is considered to be the "conservatory-great room".  I love the wall color.  Are those metal cables used as "trusses", (not sure if that's the right word) do you think, or what?

And this part's the kitchen.  Fabulous stove.

This is the office.  Very historic Arts and Crafts influence continues:

This is the attic (to end all attics!)  Such a comfortable looking sitting room.  Don't you love those mullioned windows throughout?  Wouldn't want to clean them, ha.

I'm getting a bit of sensory overload from the prints in the bedroom.  If there had just been a bit less, I'd love.  I suppose it's all authentic William Morris designs, etc., but too much for me.

This is the "play room/guest house" that they call the "Rapunzel Tower".  How much would any kid love this!!!!  I want one too...

In the "Rapunzel Tower":

I'm a sucker for these fairy-tale gates:

This is the back of the house, with Utah mountain looming behind.  Beautiful.

What a gorgeous home!  I, too, have always loved Tudors, but I have never seen anything approaching this home.  I have only been inside a Tudor once, and I fell in love with all the beautiful and heavy oak woodwork I saw.  The entry was the size of a large room.  The home pictured is beyond belief - so many leaded glass windows and all.  Sigh!

Great bones, but so much thought put into decor. Love it

Without a doubt or hesitation, this house is my taste and style and I would move in and be happy!  I love everything about it inside and out, elegant, comfortable and so appealing.

Just yesterday in fact, I was driving through an area not too far away from where I live which is considered high end. I had not been in that area before so when I saw a couple of Tudors mixed in with the other stately homes, they caught my attention, love that style.

Those trusses are actually, I believe, earthquake bolts.  At least that's what a lot of the buildings in old Charleston have.  You can see the round metal plates on the outside where they attach and go through the building and strengthen and stabilize them.  Same idea I guess.

The living room wall color is China Doll.  Our latest house was painted that color when we moved in.  It is a neutral that absolutely goes with everything.  We love it.  It is very soothing.
