Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

@Oznell.  I had no idea there were so many colors.  The terra cotta is interesting and I love the yellow.  I've never seen either before.  Thanks.

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

Hi, @Oznell !  Thank you for posting these pictures!  I've always loved Wedgewood and collected a few pieces on several trips to London.  They now reside in my curio grandfather clock.  I'm especially enamored of the lithophane piece.

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

I've always been surprised to love the yellow Wedgwood color as much as I do too, @Kachina624 .  For some reason that particular shade is esp. sunny and exhilarating.

@MJDinVegas , cool!   I had never heard of "lithophane" before.  I assume it works like a fairy lamp.  Do you ever put a tea light or other light source in it?

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

Wedgewood has never done much for me. The tables pictured are lovely as a composition, but the individual pieces of Wedgewood are not something I have ever desired.

My apologies if I have rained on everyone's Easter Parade.  Woman Sad

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

Hi, @Oznell!  Early on I did test it with a tea candle and it glows so beautifully.   There are some beautiful photos from Bernardaud on line showing lighted lithophanes; I copied one below.

I didn't use it often to prevent soot buildup but should look into battery operated tea lights which solves that problem.

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

I don't think you've rained on anyone's parade, @faeriemoon .   Everyone can't love everything, for sure.

Specifically, I know why I like jasperware-- it's the rich 18th century Stoke-on-Trent history, the genius of a potter like Josiah Wedgwood, the 18th century obsession with classical Greek, Roman, Egyptian and Etruscan figures, etc., and the way they're so vigorously and intricately rendered, the surprising array of kandy-koolaid colors, on and on.

But other people have other interests, and that's as it should be.

Oh, that's so pretty, @MJDinVegas -- thanks for posting it!

I would do the same as you plan to-- forego the soot-producing real candle, and go with batteries all the way.

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

Was lucky to find some more pictures of Wedgwood used in various dining settings--  added them in to the first post of the thread, if anyone interested...

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

Keep finding more and more Easter looks with Wedgwood jasperware, queen's ware, and faux chocolate bunnies!  Blogger Pender and Peony got an idea for pairing the chocolate-y brown bunnies with the pale blue of Wedgwood for her table and elsewhere:

And she put Wedgwood and blue bunnies too.   Feels very Beatrix Potter....

Re: SPRING WEDGWOOD ON THE TABLE

@Oznell   All the pictures are beautiful with such lovely colors for Spring. I have always loved Wedgewood Jasperware and have a couple of small pieces that I got in a shop in Bermuda. One is signed by the artist. We watched him as he demonstrated how he applied

the designs.

I love the blue Herend rabbit in the last picture. I have a small collection of Herend animals and two of them are pink rabbits. Mine are much smaller than the one pictured.

I didn't even think of it until now, but I should have included one of my Herend rabbits in the picture of Toni that I just posted in Community Chat "Happy Easter from Toni".

Maybe I'll think of doing that next Easter.
