I never tire of looking at Wedgwood jasperware, for the pretty colors, and the raised little classical scenes on it. But spring and Easter bring out the jasperware eggs too:
Like this from "Acanthus decor"--
There are lots more jasperware eggs than the one with the crane on it too--
There are even other approximations of brilliant Josiah Wedgwood's velvety cameo-like creations-- this beauty from online is Russian--
I've noticed MacKenzie-Childs producing similar motifs, in contemporary times.
And Japan did a fun version of jasperware, slightly campy. I like it though, since it's vintage and usually has some soulful "wear" on it...
Wedgwood jasperware just seems to whisper spring--
At first I wasn't sure, but isn't this supposed to look like a 'broken' egg?
The colors are so fresh and happy--
Let's see, in the picture above you have the famous blue, green, pink, teal, black, ivory, lilac, and the more modern taupe, in the little heart-shaped box next to the bean-shaped lilac one in the front.
What is your favorite color of those pictured?
Missing is the red, yellow, a few others too. They don't show my all-time favorite, the darker Portland blue:
Some of the really spectacular antique pieces are multi-toned, like this sophisticated blue and green--
Just perfect colors for this time of year, or to perk up any time of year.
Interesting 21st century special edition Wedgwood plate, shows the tradition goes on:
Edited to add: Rats, I almost forgot! A while back I posted a thread on Courtney Petit's beautiful table collections in Dallas. She showed a hall table she had done, with ginger jar and her beloved, slowly collected Wedgwood, all with tulips in them. A few images for those who missed it--
Later... I belatedly found more pictures of Wedgwood jasperware actually used in dining rooms and on dinner tables, and find them so ravishing. So if there are any people left out there who also love to look at these pretty trinkets....
The rare black jasperware is so dramatic:
So timely for Easter too.

That is so sweet. Unfortunately, some of us were young and foolish while others were young and wise. My mother had a lot of Wedgewood jasperware and offered it to me since I was the last one to marry and she had let the others choose what they wanted. I didn't want it. I didn't like it when I was almost 3 decades younger but as I matured, I loved it and used to Jones for it when I would see it at my sister's house. It's so delicate and feminine, looks like ladies from the past in their beautiful and elegant, but dainty attire. Don't you just love that vignette #1 and that gorgeous cotton organdy placemat.

I love the pink Wedgewood. My mother had some including that teapot bit in blue with different motifs. Packed away probably in the deep recesses of my garage.

Stunning Wedgewood pieces!!!! I love all of them especially the blue pitcher. My late girlfriend who was like a sister to me had Wedgewood china and I bought her place settings for her wedding anniversaries. She was thrilled with the Wedgewood and now her daughter has the set and loves it too. The pieces shown in your post are exquisite!

Not something I've ever hankered after, but I can appreciate the beauty.

I love Wedgwood and my sister and I inherited our mother's collection when she passed. I have since added pieces and try to get items in all the different colors. I know when I'm gone my daughter will sell them at a garage sale for 25 cents...ugh. Hopefully someone will get them that appreciates their beauty!

Thank you for sharing these beautiful pics. I don't have any Wedgwood, but have always loved these treasures. I am especially fond of the tray with assorted small pieces. But hard to say which color I like the best.

Beautiful!!
My mother had a sizable Wedgwood collection and when she passed we sadly had to get rid of most of it. I did keep about 12-15 pieces and plan on getting a pretty wall shelf to display them.
